UEFA Cup Top Tip: CSKA to bt Deportivo

The UEFA Cup group stage kicks off tonight with some good looking ties.

The game that i am interested in is the clash between CSKA Moscow and Deportivo. CSKA are a quality side and it is surprising to see them only 2nd in the Russian premier league this season 7 points behind leaders Rubin Kazan as the season goes into the final stages.

They are on an unbeaten run of 16 games in all competitions stretching back to late July and have won their last 9 including a 3-1 win at Zenit St Petersburg in the league.

Deportivo on the other hand have had a sluggish start to their league campaign sitting 11th in La Liga already 10 points behind leaders Valencia, they have yet to win away in the league this season and their last away win in any competition came in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Cup when they beat Hadjuk Split 2-1 back in August.

Deportivo only reached the knock out rounds after a penalty shoot out win against Norwegian side Brann , they lost the first leg in Norway 2-0 before reversing the score at home to finally edge the match on penalties.

The evens about a CSKA win will not in my opinion last long but even a shade of odds on is worth a punt given the tightness of so many of the other matches on show tonight.

So CSKA to beat Deportivo La Coruna, and a note that if you want a bet on the match the game kicks off at 5.00pm BST.

Good luck in your choices,

Latvia v. Israel World Cup Group 2 - Tip of the Day

This game involves two of the sides in one of the weaker European qualifying groups and which also contains, Greece, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Moldova.

Greece top the group at this early stage with 3 wins from 3 but Israel are tucked in behind in 2nd place with 7 points gained with wins in Moldova and Luxembourg and a home draw in their first game against the Swiss.

I believe today they can make it a hat trick of away wins which will set them up nicely for the vital qualifier in March next year when Greece visit Israel

The 6/5 best price at time of writing about an Israeli win today with Paddy Power and Williams Hill is for me worth taking especially when you look at the other fixtures tonight where there are too many short priced favourites and on or two of the other games are too close to call.

Latvia have played 3 qualifiers so far winning in Moldova and losing at home to Greece and in their last game in Switzerland at the weekend.

The Israeli squad is experienced and they gave England a couple of tough games in the Euro 2008 qualifiers, with players with Premiership experience like Benayoun and Ben Haim, along with young talent like Sahar and Coloutti they should have too much for the Latvians today.

These two sides have met twice before in friendlies though not since 1999, in those games the Israeli`s win 5-1 in Latvia on their first ever meeting in May 1998, and won in Jerusalem the last time the 2 sides met in February 1999 2-0.

I expect the trend to continue with an Israel win today.

Good luck as ever

The Real Deal to live up to his name? - NH Racing Chepstow 1.25

The 1.25 at Chepstow today is a 3 mile chase with the going at present set as Good.

The Real Deal is trained by Nick Williams and ridden by Daryl Jacobs and is in his 2nd season as a chaser, he showed enough last term to indicate he has the talent to be a good horse. He has won over the course and over the distance but ideally would like a bit more cut in the ground so any rain would be an advantage.

At best price 11/2 with William Hill at the time of writing i feel it is a fair price for an each way bet considering the relative openness of this event.

He can be forgiven his last race at Aintree at the National meeting when he unseated after an early mistake and showed enough in his 2 races prior to that which he won under the same jockey today to be worthy of a second chance today.

He undoubtedly has the talent and my only misgiving is the ground and is why i am advising an each way punt today, but i feel he is one for the notebook as he is bound to come on for the run.

So The Real Deal at best price 11/2 with William Hill today to get my jumping season off to the right kind of start.

Good luck

Vitoria Setubal v. Maritimo - Portugese Lge

Setubal are 9th in the Portugese league after 4 games with Maritimo 13th, and i will be on a Setubal win tonight.

They are 2 from 2 at home so far with 1-0 wins against Rio Ave (11th) and Estrela Amadora (4th), whilst Maritimo the team from the island of Madiera have drawn 1 on the road, 0-0 at Amadora and lost 1-0 at 7th placed Naval.

A Setubal win tonight would move them up to at least 5th in the league at this early stage, and they could go higher depending on the size of the victory.

Head to head over the last 6 games played between the two teams at Setubal over the last 6 games have provided 3 home wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats.

11/10 about a Setubal win tonight with various bookies is enough to get me to have an investment in tonight's game at the time of writing.

Neither side has been prolific in front of goal so far this season with Setubal scoring 3 in 4 so far and Maritimo 2 from 4, add the fact that in the last 6 games played between the two sides at Setubal recently none have been over the 2.5 goals mark and a saver bet on under 2.5 goals which is best price 8/15 with Bet365 would not be the worst bet today.

So for me a Setubal win at 11/10 and under 2.5 goals saver bet at 8/15 will be my bets for today as 2 singles and a double.

Good luck with whatever you decide to go for, happy punting!
