Arsene Wenger Comments on Eduardo Injury

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said Martin Taylor should "never play football again" after the Birmingham captain's tackle broke Eduardo's leg.
Eduardo went down in the third minute of the Premier League encounter and Taylor was shown a straight red card.

"The tackle was horrendous and this guy should never play football again," Wenger told BBC Sport.

But Blues boss Alex McLeish responded: "Martin's not a dirty player. He's distraught because of the injury."

Eduardo, 24, remained lying on the pitch for seven minutes as medical staff attended to him before he was stretchered off and taken to Selly Oak Hospital.

Wenger has hit out at the way he feels his team have been targeted by opponents.

"It goes with the idea that to stop Arsenal you have to kick them and that kind of thing was waiting to happen," he said.

"Many people have got away with too many bad tackles. We've escaped a few times but it's just not acceptable. If that is football it's better to stop it.

"The worst thing you hear after is that he's not the kind of guy who usually does that but you need to only kill one person one time - it's enough."

McLeish, however, sprang to the defence of his player.

"I've seen the challenge and, yes, the studs land on Eduardo's ankle. In slow motion these tackles always look bad but he's not a malicious player - Eduardo was just too quick for him," he explained.

"The referee's done his job, it's a sending off but Taylor's not a malicious player."

The seriousness of the injury was apparent as both sets of players and medical staff looked shocked while Eduardo was treated on the pitch.

The Brazilian-born striker looks certain to miss out on Croatia's participation at Euro 2008 in June.

"It was a massive shock for the team. They've seen what kind of state he was in," Wenger added.

"He's a fantastic guy and to see him in such pain and the shape of his leg was very difficult for the players.

"We want news of Eduardo as quickly as possible. The first news is very bad.

"We hope he comes back quickly but the minimum is his season is over and we are scared that it is much longer."

Eduardo Broken Leg - No TV Replay

Arsenal footballer Eduardo broken leg and no tv replay update

As you may know, Eduardo was strechered off in the game against Birmingham City. We have had many people email us to ask about what happened with Mathew Taylor, details about Eduardos injury and also, the TV replay that Sky TV do not want to show.

At the moment, here is what we know about the Eduardo situation:

1256: Eduardo is given oxygen as he is stretchered from the pitch after eight minutes of treatment. Nicklas Bendtner replaces him. We have not been allowed to see a replay of the incident - which probably tells you horrific it was.

1254: Thankfully, you rarely witness scenes like these. The Arsenal team are looking around in absolute horror at the fate of Eduardo, who is being attended to by several medics.

1251: RED CARD Birmingham
Martin Taylor gets a straight red after a challenge on Eduardo. Cesc Fabregas urgently tells the physio to attend to Eduardo, with the rest of his team-mates looking shocked. The striker is badly injured - looks like it could be a broken leg.

We will continue to update the situation, and we give our best wishes for a speedy recovery for Eduardo.

Sevilla v Zaragoza Preview

Sevilla play Zaragoza tonight in La Liga and at 4/5 a Sevilla win with Stan James it is a price I cannot ignore.

Sevilla are 6th in the league 5 points off the Champions League places after a poor start and they have won 4 drawn 1 and lost 1 of their last 6 league games which is form only bettered by Almeria and Barcelona over the same period.

At home in the league they have won 8 drawn 1 and lost 3 scoring 29 and conceding 12 and their last home defeat was back in November when Mallorca won 2-1, However Sevilla have beaten Real Madrid, Valencia and drawn with Barcelona at home this season and were the first side to beat Arsenal this season when they won 3-1 in their Champions League group match in Seville.

They lost 3-2 in midweek to Fenerbache in the Champions League round of 16 first leg match in Turkey due to a late goal but should be favourites to progress after the second leg.

Zaragoza are 10th in the league 7 points behind Sevilla going into tonight's game and have only 1 win away from home in the league a 1-0 win at Almeria in October to show for their efforts, also they have only scored 9 goals away whilst conceding 21. Form wise they have won 2 of their last 6 games in the league both of which were at home.

Head to head over the last 10 games between the two also favours Sevilla tonight with Zaragoza winning just once in Seville during this period by 1-0 in March 2005.

Another factor towards why I feel Sevilla will win tonight is the current form of their strikers Luis Fabiano and Freddie Kanoute. Fabiano is currently top scorer in La Liga with 17 goals, 3 more then Zaragoza`s Diego Milito whilst Kanoute has started to come back into form after an indifferent start to the season and has chipped in with 9.

Though Zaragoza have their own goal threat with Milito and Oliveira the majority of their goals have been on home turf and the Sevilla back line should prove a tough challenge for the pair.

Zaragoza will be missing Aimar from their side tonight but fellow midfielder Matuzelem should be fit to play.

Sevilla will be strengthened by the return from suspension of Daniel Alves and Seidou Keita, though they will be missing midfielder Christian Poulsen through suspension and forward Chevanton through injury.

So with all that taken into account Sevilla at 4/5 with Stan James is the bet for me tonight.

As always good luck,

UEFA CUP BETTING TIPS

Tonight is the turn of the UEFA Cup to take centre stage, and the match that interests me is the clash between Panathinaikos and Rangers. The first leg in Glasgow finished in a 0-0 draw and the winners of this tie will face the winner of the Werder Bremen v. Braga game (which is likely to be Bremen who hold a 3-0 lead from the first leg) in the next round.

Panathinaikos are currently 2nd in the Greek league 1 point behind Olympiakos and are unbeaten in home games in the league this season with 8 wins and 2 draws scoring 14 goals and conceding only 2.

They have looked comfortable in Europe this season beating Artmedia 5-1 on aggregate in the first round before finishing 2nd in their group to Atletico Madrid. The group also included Aberdeen, FC Copenhagen and Lokomotiv Moscow. They won both their home games in the group stage against Aberdeen and Lokomotiv without conceding a goal so this gives a clue to the task Rangers face today.

Rangers are top of the Scottish Premier league 4 points ahead of Celtic and themselves are in fine form.

On the road in the league they have won 7 drawn 2 lost 2 scored 20 and conceded 12. They entered the UEFA Cup courtesy of finishing 3rd in their Champions League group which included Barcelona, Lyon and Stuttgart during which they recorded a fine 3-0 win in Lyon.

I think Rangers may well pay the price for not scoring in the first leg at Ibrox as Panathinaikos have only conceded 2 goals at home in 13 games in all competitions going back to the start of the season and they offer a goal threat in the form of Salpigidis who has scored 11 league goals so far this season as well as the 4 he has hit in the UEFA Cup run.

Panathinaikos are at full strength for tonight's game whilst Rangers will be without the injured Beasley and Whittaker as well as the suspended Darcheville.

The 42/41 with Pinnacle is worth me putting my money on a Panathinaikos win tonight and hopefully keeps the current run of good form going.

Silverfox.

Tonights Champions League Football

The Champions league gets under way again tonight with the first set of games in the round of 16 which signals the start of the knockout phase of the competition.

The game that interests me is the clash between Schalke and Porto. This like most of the ties in this round looks to be a close call.

Schalke are currently 5th in the Bundesliga and come into this match on the back of only their 2nd home defeat of the season after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Wolfsburg. They qualified for this round by coming 2nd in a group that contained Chelsea, Rosenborg and a very disappointing Valencia and qualification was only assured after they beat Rosenborg 3-1 at home in match day 6.

In the league this season they have been hard to beat losing only 3 game from 20 played other then the previously mentioned defeat at home to Wolfsburg at the weekend they have lost they lost to Karlsruhe 2-0 at home and Cottbus 1-0 away.

Over the last 6 league games they are the leagues form team with 4 wins 1 draw and 1 defeat scoring 15 and conceding 10.

Porto their opponents tonight are no strangers to European competition and won their group which contained Liverpool, Marseille and Besiktas losing only once when Liverpool beat them 4-1 at Anfield in November.

They currently top the Portuguese league by 10 points from Benfica and though they are top of the form league over the last 6 games in that time they have suffered their first two league defeats of the season at Nacional (1-0) and Sporting Lisbon (2-0).

It is this slight dip in away form that makes me favour Schalke tonight and at best price with Pinnacle of 25/19 and generally 6/5 elsewhere I feel there is a little value to be had on going for a Schalke win.

Team news is that Schalke will welcome Jermaine Jones back into his midfield after he was suspended on Friday. Jones will take the place of Peter Lovenkrands.

Porto will be without the injured pair of Bolatti and Bosingwa for tonight's clash.

So my money is on a Schalke win tonight though I expect Porto to go through over the two legs.

As ever good luck,

Silverfox.

Free Betting Expert Tips

I hope one or two of you were on the Fiorentina tip on Thursday as a Fiorentina win, under 2.5 goals and Mutu first goal would have paid out £154 for a £10 stake! Hopefully today's effort will continue in that vain.

Today I am going for the League 1 game between Cheltenham and Hartlepool. Both clubs are in the wrong half of the table with Cheltenham 19th in the league 2 points off the drop zone and Hartlepool 17th a further 5 points ahead of Cheltenham.

Cheltenham have 2 wins 1 draw and 3 defeats in their last 6 games with both the wins and all the goals coming in the 3 home games during that period and it is their home form that has drawn them away from the bottom of the table (along with points deductions for Bournemouth and Port Vale!).

At home in the league this season they have won 7 drawn 5 lost 4 scored 15 and conceded 15.

Hartlepool are in better form the their rivals today with 3 wins 1 draw and 2 defeats in their last 6 games but all the wins in this time have come at home and in the 3 away games during this period they have only picked up 1 point at Northampton and scored 2 goals. Their away form for the season reads W3 D1 L11 F16 A27 and you have to go back a 1-0 win at Millwall in early November for the last time they picked up 3 points on the road.

Head to head in recent times favours Cheltenham at home with 3 and 1 defeat in the four games played but 1 of those wins was on penalties in the 2002 Division 3 play offs.

Jan 18, 08
League One Hartlepool United 0 - 2 Cheltenham Town

Apr 30, 02

Apr 27, 02

League Two Hartlepool United 0 - 0 Cheltenham Town

Jan 29, 00
League Two Cheltenham Town 2 - 1 Hartlepool United

Aug 28, 99
League Two Hartlepool United 0 - 1 Cheltenham Town

Early team news is that Cheltenham are expected to welcome back striker Damian Spencer for after his recovery from a virus and fellow striker Ashley Vincent might also return from a similar problem but Michael Townsend is still out sick.

Hartlepool will be without James Brown (knee ligament injury) and suspended pair Sam Collins and Michael Nelson. Ben Clark is still struggling with a groin injury and is unlikely to feature but Pools are able to call upon new signings Graeme Lee and Tom Craddock.

All things considered I am going for a Cheltenham win given the away form of Hartlepool and at 6/4 best price with Pinnacle bookmakers it offers a bit of my favourite word value!

The other bet I will have in this match is under 2.5 goals with Cheltenham scoring 15 and conceding 15 in their 16 home games so far in the league and Hartlepool scoring 16 and conceding 27 in their 15 away league games the 4/6 generally available in this market is a decent bet.

So a Cheltenham win and under 2.5 goals would be a nice way for the weekend to kick off.

Good luck as ever,

Silverfox.

UEFA CUP BETTING

Marseille beat Spartak Moscow 3-0 last night in their UEFA Cup last 32
first leg match to give us a winner and though my saver bet on Niang lost
he did score albeit the last goal not the first!

Tonight I am sticking with the UEFA Cup and the match between Rosenborg
and Fiorentina. This is another tie between one side whose season has yet
to start and another whose is in full swing.

Rosenborg will not start their league campaign till the end of March and
obviously will be lacking in competitive match fitness, they qualified for
the Uefa Cup by finishing 3rd in their Champions League Group which
contained Schalke, Chelsea and Valencia, the interesting fact however is
that there place in the Champions League was as a result of winning the
2006 Norwegian title.

The season just gone saw Rosenborg finish a disappointing 5th 13 points
behind champions Brann, though they did have an impressive home record of
won 9 drawn 3 lost 1 scored 34 conceded 13 and in their Champions league
group games they did manage to beat Valencia both home and away and earn a
point at Chelsea.

However my concern is the fact that they have not been playing
competitively for some time now.

Fiorentina on the other hand are well into their season, they currently
sit 4th in Serie A and though 6 points behind 3rd placed Juventus are
challenging for a Champions League place next season. Their away form in
the league has been better than their home form with 5 wins 5 draws 1
defeat 14 goals scored and 8 conceded. The only away defeat they have
suffered in the league this season was a 2-0 defeat at Palermo which is
definitely not one of the easiest places to come away from with any
points.

They have yet to lose home or away in the UEFA Cup so far though they did
need penalties to beat Groningen in the first round. In the group stage
they drew away at Villareal and AEK Athens and beat Elfsborg and Mlada
Boleslav at home in one of the tougher groups.

They have only lost 1 of their last 8 league matches a 1-0 defeat to AC
Milan though Lazio did beat them home and away in the Coppa Italia.

They are currently 2nd in the 6 game form league behind runaway leaders
Inter with 4 wins 1 draw and 1 defeat so will be a tough nut to crack
tonight and at best price 6/5 with Ladbrokes and Skybet look to be a good
value bet tonight.

Fiorentina have quality in all departments from goalkeeper Frey, defenders
Ujfalusi and Kroldrup, midfielders Montolivio and Jorgensen and forwards
Vieri and Mutu and they showed show their class tonight.

Mutu in particular has shown his undoubted talent to full effect this
season and is the clubs top scorer with 13 goals and if picked to play
tonight could be worth a small investment at 3/1 with Partybet in the
first goalscorer market. Mutu missed the weekend game against Atalanta
through injury but should be fit for tonight’s match.

Other team news from both camps is that the Italians will be without
midfielder Fabio Liverani who has been struggling with an ankle injury for
the past two weeks.
Rosenborg on the other hand should have a full squad to choose from.

I also cannot see too many goals in this game a Fiorentina have drawn all
their away games in the UEFA Cup 1-1 so far so obviously play it tight and
as I said before Rosenborg may find it hard to fall straight back into
competitive football after nearly 3 months so I will be taking 0.75 with
Expekt on under 2.5 goals.

So a Fiorentina win at 6/5 and smaller stakes on under 2.5 goals and Mutu
(if selected) first goals scorer at 3/1 hopefully will bag me a nice hat
trick!

Good luck as ever,

Silverfox.

UEFA Cup Football Betting Action

Another last minute goal ruined my tip last night when Woking equalised at
Exeter to get a 2-2 draw.

Hopefully some of you would have done what I did in play and get on the
draw after 80 minutes. I find this a useful tool and at least it reduces
potential loses.

As I said in an earlier BLOG flexibility in betting is vital if you hope
to make a steady profit over a period of time and with more markets then
ever the chance to do this has never been better.

Today I am dipping into the UEFA Cup and the match between Marseille and
Spartak Moscow.

The UEFA Cup has now entered the knock out phase of the competition and
the winners of this tie can look forward to a meeting with either Zenit St
Petersburg or Villareal in the next round.

Marseille are currently 5th in the league some 14 points off leaders Lyon
and 10 off 2nd place Bordeaux the position they finished last season in so
a UEFA Cup run must be high on the list of targets.

Their home form in the league so far is W6 D3 L2 F19 A9 and in their last
6 league games they have won 4 drawn 1 and lost won with all 3 home games
in that period being won with an aggregate score of 10 goals to 2. In fact
they have won their last 5 league games and you have to go back to
September and a 2-0 defeat to Toulouse for their last home league defeat.

They have recovered from a start in the league which saw only 1 win in 10
to steadily climb the table and are the only side to win at Lyon in the
league this season.

Spartak Moscow have not played a competitive game since the Russian league
finished in November and though they have played friendliest in that time
I feel they will be handicapped by this lack of action especially as their
season does not kick off for another month. Spartaks last competitive
match was back in December in this very competition when they lost 2-1 at
Toulouse who are 3rd in the French league in their final group game.

They finished 2nd behind champions Zenit St Petersburg in the league by 2
points and as I stated earlier face an interesting clash against them if
both sides progress from this round.

Spartak I am sure will have prepared well for this game but with no real
form to go on since November I feel the 4/5 with Corals for a Marseille
win tonight is worth taking.

The other bet I will have in this match for small stakes is for Mamadou
Niang of Marseille to be first goalscorer at 9/2 with both Bet365 and
Ladbrokes. He has just returned from a disappointing African Cup of
Nations with Senegal but was on the score sheet for Marseille at the
weekend in a 2-0 win at Nice.

So far in the Championship he has scored 11 goals with 7 being the first
of the game so at 9/2 if selected he could be a real value bet, but as
always with these types of bet keep your stake low.

So tonight for me a Marseille win and Niang first goalscorer.

Happy punting,

Silverfox.

Blue Square Premiership Football

Today's tip comes from the Blue Square Premiership or as I still like to
think of it the Conference, and the game between Exeter in 6th place and
Woking in 16th,

Exeter have a home league record of W7 D6 L1 F28 A18 with the only defeat
coming back in November when Burton visited St James Park and won 4-1.
Since then however they have won their last 4 home games scoring12 and
conceding 4.

A win tonight would help them consolidate their challenge for a play off
place with the 2 teams directly above and below them Forest Green and
Cambridge United facing tricky away games against Stevenage and Cambridge
United respectively.

In their last 6 games Exeter have won 4 drawn 2 lost 0 scored 11 and
conceded only 3 in fact the only league defeat they have suffered since
the New Year was on New Years Day when they lost the local derby against
Torquay 1-0.

Woking on the other hand have had another disappointing season. On their
travel their record reads W4 D5 L6 F16 A20 and though their form has
improved of late with only 1 defeat in their last 6 games their strength
lays at home. Though they have won 4 away games three have been against
Stafford (23rd) Northwick (22nd) and Weymouth (19th) teams that in 42 home
games in the league between them have mustered just 6 wins.

Head to head does sound the one cautionary note as in their last 9
meetings Exeter have won just 2 home and away and in the 4 meetings at
Exeter in that time Woking have come away with at least one point on 3 of
those occasions though you do have to go back to April 2004 for their last
win at St James Park.

Sep 25, 07 Conf Woking FC 1 - 1 Exeter City
Feb 10, 07 Conf Exeter City 1 - 0 Woking FC
Nov 4, 06 Conf Woking FC 0 - 2 Exeter City
Feb 21, 06 Conf Woking FC 1 - 0 Exeter City
Sep 27, 05 Conf Exeter City 1 - 1 Woking FC
Mar 19, 05 Conf Exeter City 0 - 0 Woking FC
Aug 17, 04 Conf Woking FC 3 - 3 Exeter City
Apr 12, 04 Conf Exeter City 1 - 2 Woking FC
Aug 25, 03 Conf Woking FC 1 - 0 Exeter City

Team news is that Exeter have no new injury worries and look set to name
an unchanged side whilst Woking midfielder Bradley Quamina should take his
place in the side despite being withdrawn on Saturday after 38 minutes
with a knee injury.Otherwise Woking manager Frank Gray is expected to
stick with the same side.

Totesport are best price 8/11 an Exeter win and I am happy to invest in
that possibility tonight.

Good luck,

Silverfox.

African Cup of Nations Latest

Today sees the 2 semi finals in the African Cup of Nations and it is
contested in my opinion by the four best teams on the continent.

The first Semi which kicks off at 17:00 GMT sees hosts Ghana take on
Cameroon.

Ghana won all 3 off their group matches beating Guinea 2-1 thanks to a
late strike from Portsmouth’s Muntari before beating Namibia 1-0 and
Morocco 2-0. In the quarter final they came from a goal down and having
captain Mensah sent off to beat Nigeria 2-1 with the winner coming from
Nottingham Forest striker Junior Agogo.

Coach Otto Pfister has a group of talented players which includes
Chelsea’s Michael Essien who work well as a team and have a very solid
defence which could be the key against a Cameroon side full of goals.

Cameroon are coached by another veteran Claude Le Roy and it will be a
fascinating game to watch between these to master tacticians. Cameroon are
the only side in the Semis to lose a game when Egypt beat them 4-2 in
their first group game, but they followed that disappointment up with wins
against Zambia (5-1) and Sudan (3-0) before overcoming Tunisia 3-2 in
extra time in their quarter final encounter.

With the constant threat of Samuel Eto`o upfront supported by the likes of
Joseph-Desire Job, Geremi and Rigobert and Alex Song the Indomitable Lions
will not be easy to beat and though Ghana can rely on home support I feel
this game could go either way.

The bet I will be having today is +2.5 which is on offer at evens. Ghana
have scored 7 goals in their four matches and conceded 3 but they have not
faced an attacking outfit like Cameroon so far in the competition.

Cameroon have scored 13 goals in 4 matches so far and conceded 7 which for
me would imply that there will be goals in this match, though semi finals
are usually tight affairs this competition so far has been a feast of
football with 84 goals in 28 games at an average of exactly 3 a game and
hopefully this trend will continue.

An early Ghana goal would make this game very interesting as Cameroon
would then have to go forward and leave even more gaps in an already
suspect defence and hopefully that is what we will get.

So for me +2.5 goals at Evens is the bet for me today.

By way of interest in the other Semi final I expect the Ivory Coast to
beat a well organised Egypt side in a very tight game which could well go
to extra time if not penalties. This is a repeat of the 2006 final when
Egypt triumphed on home turf, but the Ivory Coast have been for me the
stand out side in the competition so far and were my anti post bet for the
tournament. I have not seen anything to make me change my opinion of that
fact since but as a betting medium I will avoid the game and just sit back
and enjoy it for once!

Good luck as ever,

Silverfox.

The Best UK Bingo Comparison Site

The Best UK Bingo Comparison Site

Online Bingo in the UK is gaining momentum at a very fast pace. Since the relaxation of the advertising laws as they relate to online gambling in September 2007, there has been a rash of bingo operators rushing to bombard television and print mediums with their latest and greatest offers.

Here is where the Bingo comparison site BingoPort.co.uk comes in. These guys not only give players a thorough review of every major UK online bingo operator but also run what seems to be the largest community of UK bingo players combining their Free Bingo, bingo chat forums, bingo site reviews, competitions, player profiles and much more.

In addition, they monitor all of the big bingo operators 24 hours a day so you can see at a glance how many players are at a site, size of pots, size of jackpots and cost of bingo tickets. It appears to be a one stop comparison shop for UK bingo players.

Looking at the bingo rankings right now, it would appear as though Gala Bingo is the number one operator in the UK. It’s no wonder with their huge offline presence and their use of celebrities such as Sharon Osbourne.

Another up and coming online bingo operator is Foxy Bingo. Having just launched their huge new television campaign with the fox picking up players on the way to his house, presumably to play bingo, they seem to be also be picking up in the rankings.

All in all, BingoPort.co.uk is the place to be as far as bingo players looking to get involved in the online bingo world are concerned. We were very impressed with this site and will certainly go back and get involved in the community spirit that appears to be a big part of why the site is successful.

Online Casinos - Whats the Big Deal?

Online Casinos - What's the Big Deal?

Although gambling over the Internet is still an extremely recent phenomenon, the best online casinos in particular have been undergoing some fascinating transitions, and continue to do so at unprecedented speeds.

Also, given that online betting ranks right up there with another common vice (rhymes with 'poor know') as the largest industries gracing the Net, it shouldn't comer as a surprise that the major advances made in cyber technology are largely due to the online gambling biz, and of course that other service industry. So if you're wondering where the overwhelming demand for faster, safer and better Internet services is coming from - and in turn benefiting all heavy users - ask any online gambler.

The truth of the matter is, no other industry can boast more riveting graphics, state-of-the-art games, user-friendliness, or securer financial transacting than the online betting world, especially when playing at the top online casinos. Oh, and did we mention the unbelievable amount of cash you can also win? That's another thing about online casinos; the payouts to players are significantly larger than anything a land-based casino can deal out.

Ever since the United States passed their awful Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act a little over a year ago, many online casino operators were quick to adjust their marketing strategies in order to recoup what business they lost after pulling out of the States. As is clearly evident today, many Web-based gaming companies have added sports betting services to their repertoires. Even a number of what were once exclusively poker sites now offer the entire slew of online casino games like blackjack, roulette, craps, slots etc., as well as sports betting and bingo games.

The range of sports betting services now available at increasingly more online casinos includes all you would expect from a site devoted to, you guessed it, gambling on sports. Related articles about who, what, where, when, and sometimes why are fast finding their way onto other non-sports betting sites as well. This is due to the fact that more gaming firms are trying to lure in additional gamblers by offering comprehensive wagering platforms. Online sports betting is certainly a natural team player when it comes to offering a wide array of online betting options.

So, if you're looking for a good time, and you're into sports betting, or perhaps poker, maybe bingo, possibly backgammon, whatever... be sure to check out the latest in modern living by clicking over to any of the top online casinos. If having fun is your idea of a good time, today's best online casinos are one sure bet.

If proof were ever needed that sports predicting is one of the hardest
things to do it was highlighted on Saturday night when Almeria beat Real
Madrid 2-0.

All the stats were in favour of Madrid but unfortunately for me no one
told the Almeria players that!

I base my views on current form as a general rule and I firmly believe
over the course of the year it is the correct way to go, but there will
always be the odd result that throws a spanner into the works and they
must never be allowed to alter your way of doing things if you have found
a system that works for you.

Obviously systems need to be reviewed from time to time but if it is
working then keep faith with it you will be rewarded in the long run.

Today I am going for one of the games in the African Cup of Nations, the
clash between Tunisia and Cameroon. This is a Quarter final game with the
winners going on to face hosts Ghana in the Semi Final on Thursday.

Tunisia topped their group on gaol difference from Angola, and in their 3
group games they firstly drew 2-2 with Senegal, before beating South
Africa 3-1 and finally drawing 0-0 with Angola.

The bulk of their squad is made up from Champions Etoile du Sahel and they
have a few players based in Europe such as Mnari and Jaidi to give
experience to the squad but the main man is Brazilian born Santos who is
always a goal threat and whose 2 goals against South Africa turned the
game in Tunisia1s favour, he is well supported by Chermiti of Etoile who
is one for the future and will eventually I believe join a European club.

The Indomitable Lions as Cameroon are also know are probably the best
known national side in Africa since their exploits at the 1990 World Cup
when they lost to England in the Quarter finals. Though they are not the
force they were then they still have a strong squad full of players with
experience in Europe such as Rigobert Song, Geremi, goal keeper Carlos
Kemani and of course Samuel Eto`o of Barcelona.

In the group phase they were well beaten 4-2 by Egypt which was the wake
up call they needed as they then went on to beat Zambia 5-1 and Sudan 3-0.
Eto`o has scored 5 goals in these 3 games and has been well supported by
ex Middlesbrough forward Joseph-Desire Job who has chipped in with 2 and
has played well throughout the tournament.

I am going for a Cameroon win tonight as at best price 23/20 with William
Hill they for me will overcome their problems in defence with the superior
firepower they possess.

Both teams should have full squads to choose from and if the previous
games in this competition are anything to go by there should be plenty of
goalmouth action.

So the Cameroon to overcome Tunisia is my tip for the day, good luck with
whatever you decide.

La Liga Football Betting

Today I am going for Real Madrid to beat Almeria in La Liga in the match
in Almeria.

Almeria have exceeded everyone’s expectations since their promotion to La
Liga last season and are currently 8th in the league with a home record of
W5 D2 L4 F8 A7.But for me their problem is though their defence is solid
their forwards have only managed to score 18 times in 21 league matches so
far and the only time they have scored more then one goal at home this
term was in the 2-0 against Osasuna in November.

Their recent form has been good with 3 wins 1 draw 2 defeats 5 goals
scored and 6 conceded in their last 6 league games but the opposition
tonight are definitely a class apart from what they have faced so far.

Real Madrid top La Liga by 9 points from perennial rivals Barcelona and
look set to win the league this year barring a disastrous drop in form.
They have a perfect 10 from 10 win record at home in the league this
season and on the road they have won 7 drawn 2 and lost 2 scoring 20 and
conceding only 7.
The 2 defeats came against Espanyol and Sevilla and they are currently on
a run of 8 straight league wins which includes a 1-0 win at the Nou Camp
against Barcelona in December just before the Winter break.

The Madrid forward line is on fire at present with Van Nistelrooy, Robinho
and co scoring at will it seems.

The only previous meeting between these two sides in recent times took
place back in September when Madrid won 2-1 at the Bernabeu.

Early team news is that Madrid’s Brazilian defender Marcelo could return
from injury for Real Madrid and star striker Ruud van Nistelrooy looks set
to overcome a bout of gastroenteritis he suffered midweek however
Christoph Metzelder, Pepe, Gabriel Heinze and Javier Saviola are all
unfit, while Mahamadou Diarra is at the African Nations Cup and Fernando
Gago is suspended.

Almeria has no injury worries.

At 4/6 with bet365 and Paddy Power I think the Madrid win is a good enough
price to take advantage of as in my opinion an Almeria winning or getting
a draw would be a big surprise given Madrid’s form of late.

The other bet I will have in this game is for Madrid to win to nil at 8/5
with Paddy Power, based purely on the fact that Madrid as I stated earlier
have only conceded 7 on the road in the league so far and that Almeria
have only scored 8 from 11 home games this again is too tempting a price
not to take advantage of.

So a Madrid win without conceding a goal is what I expect tonight and
where my money will be, as ever good punting and the best of luck.

The Importance of Flexibility in Betting

Walsall and Orient fought out a 0-0 draw so my tip was a loser but I hope
one or two of you did take the draw as saver as it was an option I was
concerned about.

The importance of flexibility in your betting is vital if you hope to make
a profit.

I have one or two friends who once they have decided on a bet will stick
by it rigidly and not consider taking a saver option as by their way of
thinking it is admitting their selection is flawed.

Needless to say these same friends never make much out of betting and are
always blaming things like last minute goals and poor refereeing decisions
as to why they did not win.

With the various types of bets and in running options available in todays
betting markets there is no reason why you cannot adapt your bet to go
with any change during the match, many companies offer in running betting
and I for one got on the draw after 70 minutes to reduce my potential
losses.

The days of having to tear your betting slip up if you backed a side to
win and after 30 minutes they are 2-0 down with a player sent off are gone
thanks to the variety of markets available, and for those who like the
occasional bet rather then the like of me who has chosen to earn a living
from the game can always safeguard their return by betting on more the one
outcome.

Betting should always be enjoyed and used as a medium to add extra
interest in a specific sporting event and I am the last person who would
advise anyone to keep throwing money at the bookies. If you cannot enjoy
betting do not get involved as it can be a very expensive business, and
one thing I have learnt from bitter experience is betting emotionally is a
recipe for losing.

I don’t mean to tell my mother how to suck eggs by stating what many of
you will know is common sense but I feel that for the less experienced or
novice punters out there it is worth re stating the dangers as well as the
rewards of punting and to not do so would be irresponsible.

I have been punting for 30 years and been making my living from it for 10
and have many times wished that an older wiser head had pointed out the
pitfalls especially in my early days but now thankfully I make enough to
have a comfortable lifestyle but it has not come easy or without hard
work.

The reason I write this blog is to try to share my knowledge and
experience and hope that more people can enjoy punting, as there are not
many better feelings then getting a winner and having your judgement on an
event be proved right.

You will be pleased to know that I will be back to tipping the next time,
until then good luck.

Silverfox.
