Rafa facesshowndown after Barry transfer collapse - Transfer news today.

Rumours coming out of Anfield are that manager Rafa Benitez is unhappy with the perceived lack of support from the board in financing a move for Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry. The Villa ace had been Benitez`s long term target but the deal has seemed to of finally collapsed.

Arsene Wenger is still keeping an eye on Swiss international Gohan Inler who is at Udinese in an effort to give a bit more steel to his midfield before the big kick off. The Italians have constantly denied any approach for Inler but Wenger has been an admirer since the midfielder acquitted himself well during this Summer`s European Championships, and Udinese could find it hard to resist a good offer from the Gunners.

Alex Ferguson could land one of his main Summer targets if rumours are true, if as seems likely Dimitar Berbatov signs for the champions next week. SirAlex needs to strengthen his attack with Ronaldo out till at least he end of September, Saha rumoured to be in talks with Sunderland and Rooney only just recovered from a virus.
