Pietersen handed England Captaincy - Cricket
As expected Kevin Pietersen has been given the England test Captaincy after the resignation of Michael Vaughan yesterday. In addition to captaining England in the one remaining test against South Africa at the Oval this week he will also captain the one day side against the same opposition in a 5 game series which follows.
However the selectors seem to have missed a chance yet again to make changes with only Ravi Bopara coming in for Vaughan for the forthcoming test. In my opinion Vaughan though by his own admission was woefully out of form with the bat (only Monty Panesar averaged fewer runs in the 3 tests so far against the South Africans) he was far from the only culprit, and as always the powers that be have sacrificed the captain and now sit back and think everything will be fine, only time will tell but i somehow doubt it.
