On the tennis court yesterday Andy Murray who was one of Britain`s hopes for a medal was surprisingly beaten in the first round on the men`s singles in straight sets by Taiwan`s Lu Yen-Hsun. The British number 1 looked strangely listless throughout the match and Lu the World number 77 won 7-6 6-4.
However Murray managed to raise his game in the men's doubles partnering brother Jamie to victory over Canada`s Nestor and Niemeyer in 3 sets. Also in the doubles defending champions
Fernando Gonzalez and Nicolas Massu of Chile lost in the first round to Russian pair Dmitry Tursunov and Mikhail Youzhny.
Returning to the pool Britain`s youngest Olympian at the games 14 year old Tom Daley and his partner Blake Aldridge finished 8th in the Men`s 10 meter Synchronised diving competition in an event which saw the Chinese pair dominate from literally the first dive.
