Olympics kick off with Spectacular Opening Ceremony
The 2008 Olympics kicked of on the 8th day of the 8th month at 8.00 pm to provide a symmetry that hopefully will continue throughout the 16 days of the World`s greatest Sporting event. The number 8 is traditionally a lucky number in China and was key to the date of the opening ceremony.
