Roy Keane the Sunderland boss stepped up his search for a striker to replace the injured Kenwynne Jones with a reported bid for Blackburn Striker Benni McCarthy, with rumours of discontent coming out of the Rovers camp since Paul Ince took charge the South African could be interested in a move. This rumour follows on from the alleged move made by Keane for Manchester Uniteds injury prone forward Louis Saha.
Liverpool who are still looking to off load players to raise money to buy Gareth Barry from Villa have seen German side Hamburg lose interest in a move for Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt after the Anfield side priced the all action forward at £16 million pounds, Hamburg have money to spend as a result of Rafael Van Der Vaart`s move to Real Madrid but will now probably look for a cheaper option.
