Boxer Gavin out of Olympics -Olympic news
Britain's medal hope for the forthcoming Olympics which start in Beijing tomorrow was dealt a major blow when one of their best hopes for Gold in Boxing Frankie Gavin was forced to withdraw from the lightweight division as he was unable to make the weight in the category.
Gavin who is the reigning World amateur champion at this weight and who had beaten every opponent in this class that was due to compete in the division is understandably devastated, but Olympic rules state that a boxer must make the correct weight one every day at he is due to fight at the games and this was something that Gavin could not guarantee.
