Arsene in for Alonso? -Transfer Chat.
In a twist to the on-off-on-off transfer saga of Gareth Barry from Villa to Liverpool, the proposed move now alleged to have been sanctioned by Villa boss Martin O`Neill may possibly be a step closer if the rumours circulating are true that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is lining up a move for Liverpool`s Xavi Alonso.
Benitez needs to free up funds to bid for Barry and Alonso was a target of Juventus till the move collapsed. Wenger has been an admirer of the Liverpool midfielder for some time and sees him as the perfect partner for Cesc Fabregas in the Arsenal midfield.
