Villa draw Intertoto opener - Odense 2 A. Villa 2
A 90th minute goal denied Villa a win in yesterday`s Intertoto 3 round 1st leg tie in Denmark against Odense but still puts them in a strong position to qualify and to proceed into the UEFA Cup competition.
A goal by the giant John Carew gave Villa the advantage early on only for Steve Sidwell on his Villa competitive debut to put through his own net after 25 minutes.
Villa dominated for long periods of time and in the 76th minute Danish international defender Martin Laursen gave them the lead with a headed goal from a set piece by the impressive Ashley Young.
From then on the home side pressed forward but Villa looked to be heading back to Villa Park with a win till a long ball forward found Anders Christensen who proceeded to dispatch his effort into the net.
