Manchester United and Liverpool could go head-to-head with old foe Jose Mourinho in the race to sign Xavi. Jose Mourinho has been linked with a move for his old player since joining the club in May, and over the weekend it was suggested a switch was close to being completed. Since then, Portugal star Deco has moved to Stamford Bridge only heightening rumours of Lampard's exit, and now it seems details are starting to surface, with the England man apparently heading to Milan on a four-year-deal. Serie A high-fliers Juventus are lining up a 16.5million bid for Xabi Alonso, according to the Daily Mail. The Italian giants have missed out on their primary midfield target, with Alberto Aquiliani ready to sign a new contract with Roma. This means Juve will once more look to bid for Alonso, after previously having a 14.5million offer turned down. The Spanish midfielder has been with Liverpool since 2004, scoring 11 goals in over one hundred appearances.

Aston Villa are in the race to sign Paul Robinson, according to reports. Spurs have recently signed PSV Eindhoven keeper Huerelho Gomes, and this will only intensify rumours of an exit for Robinson.
