Manchester United and Real Madrid look set to lock horns again, this time over Columbian international Radamel Falcao. The two clubs are already at loggerheads over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo, but they look set to go head-to-head again for Falcao. The 22-year-old striker currently plays his football with River Plate and is valued at around 13million euros. Porto are also thought to be interested in sealing his signature.
Who? - Andriy Shevchenko - Speculation Where is he? - Chelsea Who is he linked with? - Barcelona
Chelsea forward Andriy Shevchenko could be on his way to Barcelona, according to El Mundo Deportivo. The Ukranian forward has struggled to find a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge since moving there from AC Milan in 2006. The arrival of Luis Felipe Scolari does not look like it will make life any easier for Shevchenko as the Portuguese manager has been linked with a host of new forwards, including Deco and Robinho. Milan have been rumoured to be interested in resigning him, but now it seems Barca are favourites. However, the move would likely be a loan, with the Catalan club unwilling to pay what is understood to be a large fee.
Who? - Robinho - Speculation Where is he? - Real Madrid Who is he linked with? - Chelsea
Chelsea are reported to be stepping up their interest in Real Madrid's Brazilian forward Robinho. The 24-year-old South American has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe, but his agent still believes that Stamford Bridge is his client's most likely destination. Wagner Ribeiro told the Daily Star: "It is not new. But now, with the arrival of Luiz Felipe Scolari to the club, they have increased the contact. I expect there to be an official contact between the clubs this week after the end of the European Championships." Robinho has been at the Bernabeu for three seasons, scoring 30 goals in 122 appearances for Real in La Liga and the Champions League. Meanwhile, the Blues have also been linked with a shock move to try and prise striker Emmanuel Adebayor away from Arsenal. The 24-year-old Togo international is a reported target for both AC Milan and Barcelona, despite the Gunners remaining adamant that Adebayor is not for sale. However, Chelsea are rumoured to be lining up a 30million offer to try and tempt Arsenal into a deal.
Who? - Gareth Barry - Speculation Where is he? - Aston Villa Who is he linked with? - Liverpool
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has reacted angrily to suggestions from wantaway captain Gareth Barry that he has done little or nothing to try and keep him at Villa Park. The England midfielder has expressed his wish to quit Villa in search of Champions League football and suggested that O'Neill was too busy as a TV pundit at Euro 2008 to hold further discussions on the matter. Barry told The News of the World: "Villa kept saying they wanted me to stay, but I haven't heard from the manager for weeks. It's seven weeks now since the season finished but, while the gaffer's found time to be a pundit for the BBC at Euro 2008, he hasn't found the time to speak to me. Have Villa offered me anything to try to persuade me my future is at Villa Park, not Anfield? Not a thing." O'Neill responded by telling the club's official website: "My chairman and I were surprised with the comments attributed to Gareth Barry. Contrary to what was reported, we desperately want to keep Gareth at Villa Park and he knows that. We asked both Gareth and his agent to consider what had been discussed at our meeting, but Gareth came back from England international duty in June and reiterated his intention to join Liverpool and told me so. But Liverpool's valuation of Gareth has been consistently well short of our own and at the moment remains so. We have made our position clear in respect of Liverpool's interest in the captain of our club, but if Liverpool meet our valuation then Gareth Barry will get his express wish to leave Villa Park."
