Roger and Rafa cruise into Final - Wimbledon Mens Singles.
As expected yesterday Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal cruised into the Mens Singles Final on Sunday by winning both their matches in straight sets against their unseeded opponents.
First on court was Federer the defending Champion, and he recorded his 65 straight win on grass with little trouble winning 6-3 7-6 6-4. However it has to be said that Safin will go away from this tournament with great credit as he at last seemed to show the talent that was so obvious early on in his career.
Next up was Nadal who was the conqueror of Andy Murray in the previous round he beat Rainer Schuettler 6-1 7-6 6-4 with only a slight hiccup in the second set to set up a repeat of the 2006 and 2007 Finals.
In the mixed doubles Semi Final, Jamie Murray and Liezel Huber lost in 3 sets to Bob Bryan and Sam Stosar in an entertaining match on Centre Court yesterday evening. Murray and his partner won the first set comfortably but then the more experienced duo began to take over control and Murray and Huber struggled in particular against the power serve of Bryan.
Eventually they lost 2-6 7-6 6-4.
One bright spot for Britain yesterday was the fact that Laura Robson the 14 year old managed to beat Tabakova of Slovakia, 6-2 7-5 to reach the Final of the Girl`s singles competition.
Tabakova who is 17 had no answer to Laura`s serve and in fact the British girl only dropped 4 points on her serve all match an amazing stat.
She now goes on to play number 3 seed Noppawan Lertcheewakarn (try saying that 10 times fast!) of Thailand in todays Final and on the form she has shown so far must have a great chance of success.
