Rangers hopes dealt blow - Rangers 0 FBK Kaunas 0 Champ Lge Qual.

Ranger`s hopes of progress into the 3rd round qualifying round of this seasons Champions League competition were dealt a blow last night when they were held to a 0-0 at Ibrox against Lithuanian champions FBK Kaunas.

The Scottish side looked sadly out of sorts and lacking match practice against their fitter and determined opponents, and t was clear from early on that the Lithuanians were going to be hard to break down.

Miller and Darcheville both went close in the first half but the Kaunas were in no mood to roll over and themselves created the odd chance.

It was clear Rangers missed the drive of injured skipper Barry Ferguson in midfield and also the presence of Carlos Cuellar at the back but must still be disappointed in not taking at least a one goal lead to Lithuania next week.

The thought of Rangers being out of European competition by the beginning of August would be unthinkable unless you are a Celtic fan!
