Oduwu Olympic hopes boosted.
One of Britain`s major hopes for a gold medal at this Summers Olympics in Beijing, triple jumper Phillips Oduwu had his chances further boosted last night when reigning Olympic champion Stefan Olsen of Sweden pulled a muscle during his fourth jump at the Super Grand Prix meeting in Stockholm.
The clash between the 2 was potentially one of the highlights of the coming Olympic field events with Oduwu holding the best jump in the World this year but with Olsen being the ultimate competitor.
In other Olympic news sprinter Merlene Ottey, 48, who now runs for Slovenia but who previously won Olympic medals for Jamaica failed by a fraction of a second to qualify for her EIGHTH consecutive Olympics.
Her first Olympics were in Moscow in 1980 and she went on to win 6 bronze and 3 silver though the gold always eluded her.
