New match fixing probe in Italy.

Italian soccer is preparing itself for yet another match fixing probe. Hot on the heals of the "Calciopoli" scandal involving Juventus, AC Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio.

Five players have been charged over alleged match-fixing of last season's Serie A fixtures between Atalanta and relegated Livorno.

Both ties played between the sides in December last year and May this year are under investigation

The results were a 1-1 in December and an Atlanta win (3-2) in May.

Livorno were relegated at the end of last season and it will be interesting to see how the powers that be react to this incident if it is found to be true, as stated earlier Italian soccer is no stranger to these allegations and it would be naive to think it is the only league affected by this problem, but it is certainly one of the highest profile leagues and the powers in UEFA need to start to take strong action against clubs, officials and players proven to be involved in this blight.

We will wait and see the outcome, old cynic that i am i am not holding my breath for quick action.
