Lie back and think of England!
The stereotype of an English man is that he spends his life thinking about just two things, sex and football, but which comes first (if you'll pardon our Carry On style pun) for them? A survey out this week commissioned by radio station talkSPORT has revealed that when asked what they would prefer - England winning the World Cup or them getting to sleep with a Page 3 girl, over three quarters of men said they would rather 'do it' for their country. How noble of them.
The results of the survey highlighted the real passion in many men's lives in the UK is not women, but football. Of course, this won't come as much of a surprise to anyone who happens to know an English man. When respondents were asked if they would cancel their wedding for tickets to see England in a World Cup final, a staggering 41% said they would. And incredibly - and frankly disgracefully - over in one-in-four admitted that they would miss the birth of their child for the same tickets!
Down the pub, football is still the main topic of conversation with 72% of blokes saying it's what they talked most about, with 13% saying work, 8% saying cars and 6% saying sex. Only 2% of men admitted to talking mainly about their girlfriends or wives. You can always spot them in the pub, they're the ones who no-one is listening to or paying any kind of attention to. Bless 'em.
James Mallinson, Publisher of talkSPORT Magazine - free to subscribers via email or online at www.talkSPORT.net/mag - said: "This survey has captured what men 'really' think and talk about, and that's football. It's a national obsession and we've all been gutted, as we've had to sit back and watch a whole host of Premier League stars taking part in Euro 08 without a home nation in sight. The new season can't start soon enough!"
Which would you prefer!
