Federer cruise to Semi Final - Wimbledon Mens Singles.

Defending champion Roger Federer made short work of his quarter final opponent Mario Ancic to cruise into the Semi Finals of Wimbledon yet again.

Even the first rain of this years tournament could not put the number one seed of his stride and he only lost 10 points on his service in the whole match as he ran out a easy winner 6-1, -5, 6-4 to face unseeded Marat Safin in Fridays Semi Finals.

Safin had a harder time disposing of number 31 seed Feliciano Lopez of Spain but won in 4 sets
3-6 7-5 7-6 6-3 and there is no doubt that the conqueror of Novak Djokovic in an earlier round is playing some of the best tennis of his career, but if it is good enough to beat the master of grass is an entirely different matter and i expect Federer to win again without dropping a set.

The centre Court was packed again for the match of the round between Rafa Nadal and Britains Andy Murray, and though their s only 1 years difference in age with Nadal being 22 and Murray 21, the gulf in class yesterday was considerably wider as Nadal won in straight sets 6-3 6-2 6-4.

The effect of the 5 set marathon had to be one reason for Murrays slightly low key performance but nothing should be taken away from the Spaniards vastly improved grass court game, and Murray can leave these championships with his head held high as he conducted himself like a true professional both on and off the court.

I also feel that Murray will one day be a Wimbledon champion as he has the steel ad fight in him that i never really was convinced was in Tim Henman, time will tell.

Nadal will face either Schuettler or Clement in the semis in a match which continues today with both players having won i set each.
