Drogheda progress in Champions league.
Eircom Premier league side Drogheda United progressed through to the 2nd qualifying round of this seasons Champions League competition by winning 1-0 in Estonia last night against Levadia Tallinn.
The Irish side had taken a slender 2-1 lead from the first leg but defended resolutely and a goal midway through the second half from Graham Gartland saw them go through to meet Dynamo Kiev of the Ukraine in the next round.
Other British sides were less successful as Llanelli the Welsh Champions went out 4-1 on aggregate to Ventspils of Latvia, who now go on the play Brann of Norway and Linfield of N.Ireland despite gaining a excellent 1-1 draw in Zagreb against Dinamo went out 3-1 on aggregate. Dinamo now face Domzale in the next round.
Round two of qualifying which starts next weeks sees the entrance into this seasons competition of Rangers who face Kaunas of Lithuania for a place in the final qualifying round.
