Barton admits assualt on former team mate.
Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton has admitted assaulting a former team-mate in a training ground row.
Barton was due to stand trial at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court over an alleged incident with former Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo on May 1 last year.
The 25-year-old, who left the Citizens for Newcastle United in a £6million deal last summer, had denied inflicting actual bodily harm on the Frenchman.
However, he changed his plea shortly before the scheduled start of the trial and admitted one charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm to Dabo.
Barton is no stranger to controversy as he admitted charges of assault and affray and was jailed for six months on May 20 following an incident the previous December in Liverpool city centre.
