Arshavin fears being priced out of move - Transfer News
Who? - Andrei Arshavin - Speculation Where is he? - Zenit St Petersburg Who is he linked with? - Arsenal, Chelsea
Russia international Andrei Arshavin fears his 24million price tag may have put off any potential buyers. Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona have all been linked with the 27-year-old Zenit St Petersburg play-maker, who was one of the star performers at Euro 2008. An unnamed English club recently had a 19million bid for Arshavin rejected, according to the player's agent. "As it turned out, maybe I did the wrong thing for myself as an individual by playing well at Euro 2008 since it has led to a rise in my market value," admitted Arshavin. The midfielder's agent, Dennis Lachter, claimed earlier in the week: "Barcelona failed with a 12million bid and now an English club have had a 19million offer rejected by Zenit. Zenit want 24million, so clubs who want to sign Andrei will have to get closer to that figure. There are clubs interested in Andrei who are trying to sell players first. The figure is not easy to reach, but the transfer activity is beginning to happen and I am optimistic he will join a big club."
Who? - Luis Garcia - Speculation Where is he? - Espanyol Who is he linked with? - Tottenham Hotspur
Espanyol president Daniel Sanchez Llibre insists Luis Garcia is not on the verge of moving to Tottenham Hotspur. Reports earlier in the week suggested the 27-year-old was set to seal a switch to Juande Ramos' side, but Sanchez Llibre says he has not received any offers for the highly-rated forward. "There has been much discussion in recent days, but the club has not received any offers for this player," he said. "We haven't spoken to anyone and for me the bid is only genuine if a club gets in touch with us directly. If everything that came out in the media happened then virtually the entire squad would be sold." Garcia was the top-scorer for the Barcelona-based club in La Liga last season and was reported to be close to sealing a 5million switch to White Hart Lane. Ramos has also been linked with fellow Espanyol team-mates Carlos Kameni, Daniel Jarque and Albert Riera this summer.
Who? - Falcao - Speculation Where is he? - River Plate Who is he linked with? - Arsenal
Colombia international Radamel Falcao claims Arsenal are keen to sign him in an 8million deal. The 22-year-old striker has spent the last three years with River Plate and has an excellent scoring record for the Argentinian side. He found the net 19 times in 35 starts in all competitions in the 2007-08 season helping River Plate finish as champions of the Argentine Clausura 08. Falcao told The Sun: "I know there is interest from Arsenal and that excites me. If there is an agreement between the clubs I'm ready to go. It would mean a huge leap forward in my career I can guarantee my financial future. The Premier League is sensational."
Who? - Charles N'Zogbia - Speculation Where is he? - Newcastle United Who is he linked with? - Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur
Unsettled Newcastle United winger Charles N'Zogbia hopes to sign for either Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window closes at the end of next month. The 22-year-old is keen to hold talks with boss Kevin Keegan about his future at St James' Park but believes a change of club could help to revive his career. N'Zogbia, who still has four years left on his current Magpies deal, told France Football: "At the end of last season I didn't play a lot, so that has given me the desire to play somewhere else. When I will talk with the coach it will be clearer. My priority is to play. I have dreamt about Arsenal since I was kid. I would be delighted to join the Gunners. It is a famous team that has big coverage in France. But Tottenham is exciting too. I have never played in Ligue 1. That could be an experience in my career. But frankly, it is not my current priority. I am playing in one of the best leagues in the world. And I feel a little like at home here."
Who? - Eidur Gudjohnsen - Speculation Where is he? - Barcelona Who is he linked with? - Aston Villa
Iceland international Eidur Gudjohnsen will not be heading to Aston Villa this summer, according to the Barcelona player's agent and father. The 29-year-old former Chelsea and Bolton striker had been linked with a move to Villa Park after enduring two frustrating seasons at the Camp Nou. He seems certain to be plying his trade elsewhere next season after starting only 33 games for Barca, but will not be joining Martin O'Neill's side. Arnor Gudjohnsen told Sky Sports: "I've seen some speculation about Eidur and Aston Villa, but I don't think he was very keen on that. I think if he was to return to England he would prefer to go to London or Manchester rather than Birmingham. There are a few clubs interested, but there's nothing serious at the moment. I think he'll leave Barcelona and he's keeping his options open at present."
