Tottenham Hotspur have made their interest known in Heurelho Gomes, according to the goalkeeper's current club PSV Eindhoven. Spurs coach Juande Ramos is known to be keen to bring a new goalkeeper to White Hart Lane after dropping regular number one and England international Paul Robinson at times last season. Ramos has also allowed former number two Radek Cerny to join QPR this summer, which leaves just youngster Ben Alnwick on the books. The 27-year-old Brazil international could cost the north London club around 9million. "Tottenham have informed us of their interest," said PSV's managing director Jan Reker. Gomes joined the Dutch club in 2004 from Cruzeiro and is renowned for his shot-stopping ability. The 6ft 4in keeper caught the eye of Ramos after starring during PSV's UEFA Cup second knockout round success over Spurs on penalties in March.

Stoke City are close to sealing the capture of Jamaica international midfielder Rudolph Austin. The Potters had hoped to sign the 23-year-old last summer when they landed compatriot Demar Phillips, but injuries prevented him from making the required number of international appearances to be granted a work permit. Austin currently plays his club football with Portmore United and will join fellow Jamaica internationals Phillips and Ricardo Fuller at the Britannia Stadium. "It's a staggered deal if we do it," manager Tony Pulis told The Sentinel. "It's all based around how well he does over here. As everyone knows, we've had him over a few times to look at him in training and he's looked a decent prospect. He's still a young lad and will obviously have to prove himself, but we think he might be worth the chance. He's a strong, quick and aggressive type with two good feet, and he can also play in one of two positions."

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce is being linked with a move for Reading striker David Kitson after allowing Julius Aghahowa to move to Turkish club Kayserispor.
