Federer cruise to another win - Wimbledon Day 5

In a Wimbledon that is fast becoming one full of surprises the only constant to be found is the form of 5 time Champion Roger Federer. The reigning champion put on another masterclass of how to play grass court tennis as he disposed of Gisquel of France in 3 sets to set up a mouth watering 4th round tie against former champion Leton Hewitt.

3 more seeds fell in the Men`s singles yesteday as Marat Safin conquerer of Novak Djokovic in the previous round beat Seppi of Italy the number 29 seed, whilst Berdych,(11) and Ferrer (5) went out to Verdasco and Ancic respectively.

The biggest shock of the day came in the Ladies single when French Open winner and top seed here Anna Ivanovic went out 6-1, 6-4 to Zheng of China.

Ivanovic who struggled to beat Dechy of France in the last round looked out of sorts again and never got into the match and looked to be suffering from the weight of expectation around here shoulders.

Serena Williams the number 6 seed and now surely one of the favourites for the Ladies event beat Amalie Maresmo in a clash of 2 former champions though it was obvious Maresmo was still suffering from the injury that has hampered her for much of this season.

The other seed to fall yesterday was last years runner up Bartoli of France who was seeded number 9 was also suffering from injury and lost in straight sets to Mattek of the USA.
