Uefa Cup - Rangers and Zenit make Manchester Final.
Rangers and Zenit St Petersburg will contest the UEFA Cup Final at the City of Manchester Stadium in just under 2 weeks times as both teams came through their respective semi`s.
Zenit showed in their 4-0 thrashing of Bayern Munich that they will be a serious match for any side who plays them in next seasons Champions League. The only down side of the night for them was the booking of striker Pogrebnyak who will now miss the final, but on last night`s performance they will go into the final as worthy favourites.
Rangers came through on penalties after 3 and a half hours of football against Fiorentina could not produce a goal, again Rangers used the game plan that has proved so successful in Europe this season, playing Darcheville as the lone striker and the man must run on Duracell batteries as he ran himself into the ground for his teams cause.
Fiorentina had plenty of chances to win the game but were wasteful in front of goal and Rangers defended stoically especially after the sending off of Cousin in extra time.
Weather Rangers game plan will work in the final is up for debate but at this stage i will be backing Zenit for the final, however i was on Fiorentina yesterday!
