Spurs Cool on Eto`o - Transfer Talk.
Who? - Samuel Eto'o - Speculation Where is he? - Barcelona Who is he linked with? - Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Gustavo Poyet has cooled reports linking the club with a move for Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o. Earlier in the month Spurs were linked with the 27-year-old Barcelona striker who seems certain to leave the Camp Nou this summer. However, Poyet insists Eto'o will not be coming to White Hart Lane, telling Spanish radio station Ona FM: "Samuel Eto'o is not a priority for our team. Moreover, we're not interested in him. We'll be having a meeting next week to talk about signings, as we've already made one interesting one for next season." Tottenham landed Croatia international Luka Modric from Dinamo Zagreb in a 16.5million deal before the end of the 2007-08 campaign. Eto'o has spent the last four seasons with Barcelona, scoring 89 goals in 136 appearances for the Catalan giants.
Who? - Gregory Coupet - Speculation Where is he? - Olympique Lyonnais Who is he linked with? - Tottenham Hotspur
Lyon have denied reports suggesting Tottenham Hotspur have made an approach for their goalkeeper Gregory Coupet. Coupet, 35, has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane to replace unsettled England keeper Paul Robinson. But the French champions have denied reports which claim Spurs have made an official bid for the experienced keeper. The France international helped Lyon secure a seventh straight league title in the season just ended. Vice-captain Coupet will start for Les Gones in Saturday's French Cup final against Paris St Germain at the Stade de France. "Lyon categorically deny having received any offer from the English club Tottenham about the transfer of Gregory Coupet," read a club statement. "Moreover, the club would like to remind everyone of the general fact that no discussions relating to possible transfers will take place before the Coupe de France final at the Stade de France on Saturday in which the club as a whole have all their focus."
Who? - Olivier Kapo - Speculation Where is he? - Birmingham City Who is he linked with? - Other clubs
Co-owner David Gold has revealed that relegated Birmingham City have received several bids for midfielder Olivier Kapo. The French midfielder joined the Blues from Juventus last summer, but could be on the move again following the St Andrew's club's demotion to the Championship. The 27-year-old made 26 appearances in the recently completed season despite struggling with a series of niggling injuries. "We have received bids for Kapo but we don't need to sell him - and if we do we will replace him like for like," Gold told the Birmingham Post. "We have a 25million black hole following relegation and we have to bear that in mind. The team that got us relegated is a squad that, in my opinion, is capable of getting us straight back up."
Who? - Younes Kaboul - Speculation Where is he? - Tottenham Hotspur Who is he linked with? - Portsmouth
Defender Younes Kaboul has edged closer to the exit door at Tottenham Hotspur after suggesting he would be keen on a move to Portsmouth. The 22-year-old Frenchman has been overlooked for the first team since the arrival of Juande Ramos in October. He also risked further upsetting the Spanish coach after questioning his influence on the club in an outburst earlier this month. Kaboul, who only arrived at White Hart Lane last summer from Auxerre, is behind the likes of Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Dawson and Ledley King in the pecking order and has welcomed reported interest from Pompey. "They may be the club showing the biggest determination to secure my services. We will see," he claimed. "I do not know yet, we will see during the transfer window. For the moment, some clubs contacted me, but there are no concrete offers yet. All I know is that I have three years remaining on my contract and that I have to play. I am 22 and cannot stay on the bench and sometimes stay at home. I am a competitor before everything. When you arrive in the Premier League, it is hard to leave it. Personally, this league suits me a lot. I do not want to change atmosphere."
