Premier League -Final Thoughts.

Manchester United deservedly won the Premier League as their football was consistently of a high standard though the need to find some to take the pressure off Ronaldo in the goalscoring stakes.

Chelsea were their usual consistent self after and early season blip and will now look to the Champions League for some reward for their efforts this season.

Arsenal and Liverpool again flattered to deceive and the close season signings will be interesting to say the least.

As for the rest of the league in my opinion it was more of the same, Everton being the best of an average bunch with Villa showing signs of improvement and Man City for a while showing what they are capable of until imploding towards the end of the season due more to matters off the pitch then on,but Spurs,West Ham and Newcastle again failed to live up to their "big team" potential.

At the bottom end of the league Derby were a disaster from day one and hopefully Paul Jewell can rebuild in the Championship next term, sympathy though for Steve Coppell at Reading and Alex McLeish at Birmingham though the table does not lie they are two good managers who hopefully will be allowed to get their teams back to the Premiership.

Speaking of good managers, i said in one of my BLOGS last weak it is nice to see one of footballs quiet men come good and the job Roy Hodgson has done at the tail end of the season to keep Fulham up deserves an award though he will not get one. Through all Fulham`s problems since he took over he has remained a calm, eloquent gentleman who has never lost faith in his side and i for one was delighted that he and his team survived.

So Season 2007-08 has ended and we now get the calendar out waiting for the new season to start but sadly i feel the outcome at the end of 2008-09 may not be so different as the season just gone, as the good get better and the rest just pick up the crumbs, hopefully in a years time i will look back and say how wrong i was, for footballs sake i hope so.
