Manchester Utd v. Chelsea - Champions League Final War of Words.
Ahead of the big game tonight here are some of the quotes coming out of both camps from players and managers:
"I know my team, I think, but I haven't enjoyed picking it. Some very good players will miss out and it's not easy to tell them that. The whole squad has contributed to the season and some will be disappointed. But our form is good, we're undefeated in Europe this year, and we beat a very good team in the semi-final. That is a good indication of the quality of our team."Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
"If the club is not happy with me, no problem. If I'm not happy with them and I want to leave, I don't think they will make any problems either. But, for the moment, nothing happens. We'll talk about next year after the final. The target is to win the game, then we will talk about the future. But I promise you the future will be very good at Chelsea."Avram Grant on his uncertain future at Chelsea.
"It's similar to my first season. We know how bad it felt to lose the FA Cup Final to Chelsea and we want to put it right this time. It's bigger because it's the Champions League but we don't want to experience that losing feeling again. We want to win the Champions League but, in terms of who's dominant, the league goes out of the window now.Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick.
"I think it's the biggest game of my career. The final of the Champions League is something special. We have extra motivation because we wanted to win the title and in the end we lost it by two points. To lose the final would be heartbreaking."Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.
"Sometimes he goes in very strong and sometimes he pretends he is weak. He plays with your mind and tries to make the defender think about the next tackle. He can pretend he fell down to win a penalty, but referees know that. The Champions League Final is a big game and I'm sure the ref will know his job."Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic on Didier Drogba.
"The United lads know I love them - but Wednesday night will be a war! But whoever wins, wins and it's difficult because you can't have banter about it because we meet up with England two days later and you have to be dignified in defeat. You can't go running round with a Champions League winner's medal round your neck at the England team hotel, either. We've had a little word about it and promised we wouldn't."Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole.
"When I signed for Fulham I probably did think I would not be involved in matches like this. I went to watch Chelsea in the Champions League a couple of times and on one occasion in particular, I looked at Oliver Kahn doing his warm-up and thought 'I used to be doing that'. Believing I would have the opportunity of experiencing it again was something that never went away but at Fulham, I knew it would be very difficult."Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar
"My elbow is all right. There is just a bit of strapping in case I fall and jar it. The last couple of days it has been getting better and hopefully I am going to train without the strapping. I have full range of movement. It is a little stiff when I wake up in the mornings but when the physios do a bit of work on it and I do some swimming, it frees right up."Chelsea defender John Terry.
"We had great quality in 1999 and we used it throughout the season. That was the case his season as well so there are similarities. We've got great team spirit, and we've got a good balance of experience and young players. The enthusiasm the young players has shown has been great for me â' and I enjoy the experience you can give to the young players when they've found themselves in certain positions."Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs.
"We still believe that there is some weakness in their defence and that we can exploit that and score some goals. They are like everyone, Ferdinand is a great defender, Vidic also. But Vidic has not played a lot because he has been injured, so that could be a weak point for them and it is up to us to play well and score a goal."Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou.
