Who? - Emmanuel Adebayor - Speculation Where is he? - Arsenal Who is he linked with? - The exit door
Arsenal star Emmanuel Adebayor has demanded the club increase his wages or he will leave, if reports are to be believed. The 24-year-old striker only signed a new contract with the Gunners last summer, but earns only 35,000-a-week. Adebayor wants to see that increased to 80,000-a-week to bring him in line with other big-name Premier League stars. The news come as a host of Arsenal players are linked with the exit door. Mathieu Flamini has already signed a contract with AC Milan, while Alexander Hleb is reported to be heading to Inter.
Who? - Luiz Felipe Scolari - Speculation Where is he? - Portugal Who is he linked with? - Manchester City
Luiz Felipe Scolari has distanced himself from reports suggesting he has been approached to take over at Manchester City after hinting he could extend his contract with Portugal. The 59-year-old Brazilian coach is rumoured to be at the top of City owner Thaksin Shinawatra's wanted list after deciding to part company with current boss Sven Goran Eriksson at the end of the season. Scolari is out of contract with Portugal after the European Championship, but the former Brazil national team coach has suggested he could be tempted to extend his five-year reign. "Portugal offers me everything I need," he is quoted as saying. Referring to Manchester City, he added: "I have no agreement with that club."
Who? - Xabi Alonso - Speculation Where is he? - Liverpool Who is he linked with? - The exit door
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has denied reports suggesting he wants to sign Gareth Barry as a replacement for Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso. Benitez saw a 10million player-plus-cash offer for the Villa captain rejected by the Midlands club last week. The Spaniard is expected to renew his interest in the versatile England midfielder during the close season, but he is not looking to offload Alonso to fund the deal. The 26-year-old joined the Reds from Real Sociedad in 2004 and has been linked with Juventus and Real Madrid after falling down the pecking order this season. He (Alonso) is our player, he has a contract," said Benitez. "Barry can play in three different positions, so I don't think we need to worry about this."
