Celtic Clinch 3rd Straight Title - Scottish Premier League

A goal from Jan Vengoor of Hesselink was enough to give Celtic a 1-0 at Dundee United last night to clinch their 3rd straight Scottish Premier League title and their 42nd in the club`s long and illustious history.

Ranger`s who were Celtic`s only challengers lost to Aberdeen 2-0 to end their hopes of a title in what proved to be a game to far for the men from Ibrox.

Though no one questions Celtic deserved the title success the Scottish F.A. did not help Ranger`s in their efforts forcing them to play 3 league games in 6 days after losing the UEFA Cup final last Wednesday.

Walter Smith now has the task of rallying his troops for one final effort in the Scottish Cup Final this weekend against First Division Queen of the South.

In the mean time Gordon Strachan can enjoy yet another title made sweeter for the fact that Rangers for so long were considered favourites, however Strachan`s team showed all the qualities the great man showed as a player to keep the pressure on and finally come out winners.
