Beckham`s kiss could see him in trouble - MSL
Throughout his career, David Beckham's temper has got him in trouble when he has reacted badly to provocation and ended up being the one punished, rather than, for example, Diego Simeone. Mostly, as he's grown up, he's matured and cut that side out of his game, but occasionally it still flares up, and in the heat of early summer in Dallas, he lost his head again and could be facing MLS reprisals for it. The stupid thing is that his team were cruising to victory at the time...
The provocation came from a shocking second half foul on him by former Millwall defender Adrian Serioux that sent Goldenballs flying but didn't cause him any serious injury. The two then squared up and angrily shoved each other before ref Baldomero Toledo showed Serioux a straight red card. Becks then churlishly blew the Canadian a farewell kiss, an action that made him very unpopular with the home crowd at the stupidly-named Pizza Hut Park and could earn him a fine from MLS.
He was booed by the fans after that, and celebrated setting up a goal by putting his finger to his lips and telling them to shush, which could also get him in trouble. Afterwards he said: "You either cry about it or get on with it, and it's my motto to get on with it. You always have people shouting things at you, but trust me, I've had it worse. With Manchester United, of course many grounds I went to didn't like us as a team.
"The same happened with Real Madrid. It's the same here with the Galaxy. There are a lot of teams that treat a game with the Galaxy as a top one," he explained, also revealing why he got so hot under the collar with Serioux: "It was a terrible tackle," Beckham said. "I could've broken my leg. I think that was a bad tackle personally. He told me, 'Welcome baby, welcome.' These tackles happen in soccer and we don't want them in soccer but this is a man's game. You have to get up, play on and get on with the game. We did after that."
