Who? - Marcus Bent - Quite likely Where is he? - Charlton Athletic Who is he linked with? - Wigan Athletic
Marcus Bent's loan contract at Wigan could turn into a permanent deal at the end of the season. The striker looks likely to make the move from parent club Charlton, but it is dependent on Wigan's Premiership survival. Latics boss Steve Bruce said: "If and when we get safe, we can sit down again and see what the way forward is. There's already a fee agreed with Charlton if we want to take him, about 1 million, so we'll see what happens." The player himself would agree to the move, despite being used mainly as a substitute behind Emile Heskey and Marlon King. 29 year old Bent commented: "I will be happy to stay if something was offered."
Who? - Zlatan Ibrahimovic - Speculation Where is he? - Internazionale Who is he linked with? - Chelsea
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hinted that his future lies in either England or Spain, with Chelsea thought to be interested. The Swedish striker currently plays in Serie A for Inter Milan, but has set his sights on a move away. He said: "I feel good in Italy, but I don't know what'll happen in the next few years. Playing in England or Spain would fascinate me. They are technical leagues like the top flight in Italy." It is unlikely that Chelsea would make any move unless Didier Drogba was to leave Stamford Bridge. However, if this should happen, the big striker is adept at playing a lone striker role and so could be the ideal replacement.
Who? - Luka Modric - Speculation Where is he? - Dinamo Zagreb Who is he linked with? - Newcastle United
Newcastle could be on the verge of landing a real transfer coup by signing Luka Modric. The Croatian, 22, is widely seen as one of the top European talents around at the moment. Able to use both feet with equal effect, Modric can play either on the left or in the middle of midfield and is a regular in the Croatian national side. Despite not currently being at a top club, Newcastle would need to fork out around 12 million to secure his services. Newcastle and Chelsea are also interested, although Newcastle's director of football, Dennis Wise, has reportedly met with the players' agent to move the transfer to a more advanced stage.
Who? - Aleksandr Hleb - Where is he? - Arsenal Who is he linked with? - Internazionale
Aleksandr Hleb could be plying his trade in Serie A next season after Inter Milan declared their interest in the player. The Belarussian midfielder has been in good form for Arsenal this season and has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs. But it is Inter who have made their interest known in the 26 year old. Manager Roberto Mancini said: "I have already spoken with president Massimo Moratti about the players we would like to sign. We are interested in Hleb." There have been no reports that Hleb is unhappy at Arsenal, although the club's ambition has been questioned due to a lack of signings. Similarly, the Gunners' failure to land a trophy this season has been disappointing and so Wenger could have a job on his hands fending off Europe's biggest clubs.
