Who will make Manchester - UEFA Cup final tip
The two UEFA Cup Semi`s end the same way as the 2 Champions League Semi`s in draws and again both ties are delicately poised as they enter the second legs next week.
The final is at the City of Manchester Stadium this year and whoever gets through should be guaranteed a full house.
Bayern and Zenit fought out a 1-1 draw in Munich last night with Ribery scoring for Bayern after his penalty had been saved only for Zenit to get an equaliser thanks to an own goal by Brazilian defender Lucio.
Bayern missed the presence of Luca Toni up front, the big striker had to sit out the match due to suspension but will be available for next weeks 2nd leg.
In my opinion this could swing the tie in Bayern`s favour s tough Zenit are a very good team they are still in the early stages of their season whilst Bayern are in full flow and have a squad of experianced internationals used to big match occasions.
It is this factor that makes me think Bayern will be one of the teams to grace the final.
I watched the other semi between Rangers and Fiorentina in between naps!!! To be fair Rangers had a game plan forced on them through injuries to key players such as keeper Alan McGregor and skipper Barry Ferguson and Fiorentina were always going to be happy with a draw.
Both sides rarely showed much attacking threat though Darcheville for Rangers looked dangerous when he had the ball. As for Fiorentina Mutu had an off night nd spent most of it in a sulk!
Rangers form on the road in Europe has been nothing short of amazing with wins at Lyon in the Champions league and at Sporting Lisbon in the last round of this competition but i cannot see beyond a Fiorentina win in the 2nd leg, they have Mutu, Pazini and Vieri to call on in attack and the talented young Montolivo in midfield so i expect them to win another tight game.
So for me the UEFA Cup final will be Bayern Munich and Fiorentina, and if it is lets hope the people of Manchester get a football match worthy of two such great sides.
