Rio the next England Captain?

I read recently that Rio Ferdinand is being considered as the next England captain. I personally hope this is not the case, whilst i have every respect for the man as an outstanding defender and would never question is commitment on the field i feel he lacks a certain control which a captain of the national side must have.

On Saturday he accidently kicked a female steward in frustration nd apologised for the incident, now dont get me wrong i am all for passion in the game and i know the feeling of frustration when things don't go your way (i am after all a Arsenal fan!). But outbursts like these help no one, the question that come to my mind is did Bobby Moore the greatest defender and captain of England kick anything or anyone when he came of the pitch in 1970 after England had lost 3-2 to West Germany in the World Cup Quarter Finals after being 2-0 up? I very much doubt it and i cannot imagine his frustration being any less great.

Also for me Ferdinand spends too much time being confrontational with referees, next time there is a decision that goes against him watch who is the first to race up to the ref, as a gambling man my money will be on Rio.

As i said in the beginning i love the way he defends, he is wholehearted but an England captain in my opinion no, we have the perfect man in John Terry, although he is no saint he is a player that commands respect and is a real leader, so come on Fabio do the right thing, give Terry the arm band.
