Massimo Donatti scored in the dying seconds of the game between Celtic and
Shakhtar Donetsk last night to give the Celts a 2-1 win and keep them in
with a real chance of making the last 16.

Tonight is the turn of the UEFA Cup to take centre stage in the next round
of group games. The game I am going for tonight is the clash between newly
crowned Russian Champions Zenit St Petersburg and Nurnburg who are 16th in
the German league at present. These 2 teams are in the same group as
Everton, AZ of Holland and Larissa of Greece.

Despite the seeming gap in class between the 2 sides as far as league
position is concerned Zenit are best price 4/6 with Bet365 for the win,
which as long as the Zenit players have not celebrated to hard after their
Championship success is for me good value.

The Russians have played 2 games in the group so far drawing 1-1 at home
to AZ and winning 3-2 in Greece against Larissa so with 3 teams moving
forward from each Group a win tonight should see them qualify with a game
to spare.

Nurnburg have only played one game in the group so far which ended in a
2-0 home defeat at the hands of Everton, but I find it hard to see them
getting anything out of tonight’s encounter.

Zenit boast a proud home record in the league this season of won 10 drawn
4 and lost 1 scoring 28 and conceding 14 the only home defeat they have
suffered came against eventual league runners up Spartak who won 3-1 back
in March.
Their end of season form was also impressive with 5 wins and 1 defeat in
their last 6 a record only bettered by CSKA.

Nurnburg on the other hand are struggling in the Bundesliga after
finishing a highly creditable 6th last season. They find themselves 1
place and 3 points off the drop zone and the UEFA Cup must take second
place to top flight survival.
Their away league form does not offer much in the way of encouragement as
it reads won 1 drawn 2 lost 4 scored 8 and conceded 15. The one away
victory was back in August against fellow strugglers Hansa Rostock when
they won 2-1.
Add the fact that in their last 6 games they have 2 wins and 4 defeats
with all 3 road trips in that period ending in defeat and the price for a
Zenit win tonight looks generous in my opinion.

The only note of caution is that this will be Zenit`s first competitive
match since they won the Russian title on the 11th of November so there is
the possibility of a bit of “ring rust” but personally I find that
unlikely.

So for me a Zenit win at 4/6 and just a note that the match kicks off at
16:00 GMT so if you are considering a punt get on early.

Good luck as always,

Silverfox.
