"McClaren sacked after Euro exit" is the headline at the
Sun newspaper.
According to journalists Pat Sheehan and Shaun Curtis, the decision to sack Steve McClaren was made at 10.30 pm after the 3-2 home defeat by Croatia. McClaren was informed of the decision instantly.
Apparently, according to the Sun - FA chief executive Brian Barwick, his trusted aid Simon Johnson, FA chairman Geoff Thompson and chairman of the international committee Noel White met at 10.30 last night, sacked McClaren and decided to call an FA board meeting for 8.30am this morning to finalise procedings. A mere rubberstamp jobby of an already made decision.
I say McClaren will definately be sacked, or the pressure will mount upon
the FA heirachy themselves.
McClaren had been booked on the plane to South Africa tomorrow for Sunday's World Cup draw in Durban but his seat will be cancelled.
The under fire England manager will receive a £2.5million golden handshake despite failing to get England to the 2008 Euro finals.
News i'm sure, that will not be of much surprise to anyone remotely interested in the 3 Lions.

Steve should never have been manager, how about Harry Redknapp, he at least has some track record..
About time too! Who next for the hot seat? We need someone with the knowledge, respect and authority. One man comes to mind, David Beckham. But he is a sensible guy and I reckon even if it were offered he would say !No thank you! Remember the World cup who left the pitch last DB clapping his hands. What happened last night - thats right a repeat performance. One cap more for the 100 but England Coach, yes he could do the job but reckon he has more sense.
I agree with what Roy Keane said about the players. The players need to hold their hands up, and admit that they performed crap.
I think Steve Maclaren getting sacked was inevitable, he was never the right man for the job. I still blame the FA more than him though.
McClaren was just another Sven clone. Who wouldn't take the job. just lok how much Sven got paid for failure. The real problem is the Fat Cats at the FA Old Boys Club. Kick out Barwick and his like, they appointed both of the last 2 disasters. Get more people in like Trevor Brooking, ex players who understand the game. They also need to look at the glut of foregn players in the Premier League and impose a limit, and a ceiling on players wages.
sorry about the rant but the current FA appear to know Sweet FA about football.
COLIN KING
The day after the worst night night in English football since Rotterdam in October 1993, and Steve McClaren has gone. That, it has to be said, is a good thing. In the last 15 months under him, England has gone backwards. With Sven Goran Erikkson, they became serial qualiflers. Now we pin our hopes on Israel or Andorra getting a result against Russia. It is a sad, sorry state of affairs. Just go to www.catflapmag.com and look at the faces and listen to the word of the fans we interviewed after the game at Wembley. People are angry. They're hurting.
Sacking McClaren was long over due and was bad decision from teh start. The Engalnd manager should be chosen by the managers not some pen pusher in soho square.
We need to get it right this time, someone with vast experience who want get out done on the tacticts front like McClaren has been soooo many times. If we dont get this right now we might have to wait until www.2014brazil.co.uk and beyond
As written on http://www.buzzinfootballblog.co.uk/who-will-sack-the-fa/104/ its all very well the FA sacking Steve McClaren for failing to qualify for Euro 2008 but who is going to sack the FA for being an incompetent bunch of unelected, unknowledgable, untouchables?
With nine month or so to England?s next meaningful match, I believe it is far more important to consider who will benefit English football by being appointed chief executive of the FA before turning attention to who is going to be the next England manager.
The matter is... Lions don't feel hungry!!
