Scotland vs Ukraine Footy Betting

Today I am going for Scotland to beat the Ukraine in their Group B clash
at Hampden this afternoon.

A win today would put Scotland in with a great chance of qualifying with
games away to Georgia and home to Italy to come. After the Scots excellent
win in France they will be up for this game and know that they do not have
to fear anyone in the group.

Ukraine has been disappointing to say the least. Since qualifying for the
last World Cup they have done nothing and in the World Cup itself they
proved that the old days of dull negative football coming out of the
former USSR is still alive and well.

They have great players in Shevchenko, Voronin, and Vorobei but do not
seem to be able to harness that potential into a team. In the qualifier
against Italy in the Ukraine they fought back from a goal down to square
the match and then immediately conceded a goal at the other end, you could
see the heads drop visibly after that and with qualification all but an
impossibility for them I can see the Scots running out winners.

The only away win the Ukraine has picked up in qualifying is 2-0 in the
Faroe Island, whilst they have lost 2-0 to both Italy and France and only
taken a point from Georgia.

The Ukraine will co host the 2012 European Champions along with Poland and
this I believe will along with the 2010 World Cup be their focus, and they
will have to start learning to live without the magnificent Shevchenko who
though he has had nothing short of a nightmare in his time at Chelsea has
a record that few players can equal and though he is woefully short of
confidence is in my opinion still a class act.

They have little if no chance of qualifying for Euro `08 and motivation I
believe will be an issue for them, which is the exact opposite of the
Tartan Army.

Scotland's fate is still in their own hands and a win Saturday and then in
Georgia would make them odds on to qualify and make the Italy game
virtually a dead rubber.

The wins against France both home and away have been deserved and it would
be an injustice to the Scots to say that the French are rebuilding and not
the force of old because one look at their line up would prove that the
majority of their players ply their trade in Europe's top leagues.

It has been over 18 months since the Scotland team lost at home when they
were well beaten by Switzerland 3-1 and they are in truth unrecognisable
from that side the work of Walter Smith and now Alex McLeish has moulded a
talented squad into a team and the results are now coming on the pitch.

Gary Caldwell, Paul Hartley and Darren Fletcher will all miss today's game
but I still believe the Scot's will win the game though it will be a tight
encounter.

The general price of 6/5 a Scotland win is good enough for me to have a
piece of today and hopefully the Scot's will take a giant leap to be in
Austria/Switzerland in the summer.

Good luck
