England seemed to jog past Estonia today. There was a period of time when England struggled to win games under McClaren. All that seems to be over, and defensive midfeilder Gareth Barry seems to have been the catalyst for our upturn in form. I guess we'll soon know. The 3 lions next game is away to Russia on an artificial surface.
I was not amused by the England fans that booed Frank Lampard when he came onto the pitch. That said, if you pay £80.00 a ticket, I suppose you have bought the right to vent. I am curious as to why I only hear booing of England players when we're at Wembley. I don't recall this phenomenon happening much at the Millenium Stadium, or Old Trafford etc. Possibly the prawn sandwiches at Wembley are not up to scratch.

Is anyone ever going to question Steven Gerrard's place in the England team???

This is England?s real opportunity to now break the mould of mediocrity which plagues The Enlish football Executives, management and team. Lets have a clean sweep and build for the future. I say not around sentimental values but hard business and marketing values
Is this all Steve McClaren?s fault, the players under any other manger would have struggled ,under any other executive would have triumphed. The FA set the standard and it is pretty poor, let the people who have most to learn set the standard our greatest and best premiership managers, tempered with a desire to see any home grown talent develop. So limit foreign players, fans are paying for a lot in terms of their pocket and their national team?s to see club teams that really don?t really fair much better than other country?s. What do we fans want good football , no I think we want good quality passionate football.
The answer is simple recruit world class coaches for home grown talent, cap foreign players in the premiership , say 80% as we have to learn, put a marketing manager with a long term vision supported by premiership managers.
Take this failure and turn it into a result 5 Nations tournament next year the 5th Being America or make it the Anglo America?s to pull in Brazil etc. Europe is only one stage a bigger stage as Beckenham has shown is America and one wonders if the tie is right for America to take on us completively I think so. The resulting revenue for FA clubs, managers and players will make business sense and long term as well if done right , but the current FA are simply too pathetic to take it on.
