Didier Drogba finished last season with the Golden Boot after another impressive campaign from the Ivorian striker who seems to keep on getting better and better. However, will he be able to see off the competition this time out? For one thing, he'll miss some of the season to play in the African Cup Of Nations, while his team-mate Andriy Shevchenko will surely rediscover his goal touch in his second season...
There could be plenty of competition from Old Trafford too, with Wayne Rooney in free-scoring form in pre-season, while Cristiano Ronaldo was smashing them in with regularity in 2006/07 and will be hoping to improve on that tally. There's also Carlos Tevez, who was prolific after settling in at West Ham and will surely flourish when he eventually gets cleared to play for United.
For Liverpool, all eyes will be on the summer's big signing Fernando Torres to see if he can be the man to lead them to glory, but his record is hardly prolific in Spain, so can he bang the goals in for the Reds? If not, the likes of Dirk Kuyt and Peter Crouch will under pressure to compensate but could either of them steal Drogba's boot? How about Robin van Persie, Emmanuel Adebayor or Eduardo da Silva at Arsenal?
Beyond the big four, there's the likes of Darren Bent and Dimitar Berbatov from Spurs and Benni McCarthy and Roque Santa Cruz at Blackburn who will be pushing the front-runners hard. So, who do you think will be the Premier League's top scorer of 2007/08?
