Eircom Premier League Gambling
Yesterday was one of those days when as hard as i tried i could not find a
decent bet to get involved in.
The thing is that when you do this for a living the temptation to bet for
bettings sake is always there, but in my opinion it only leads to a reduced
bank balance.
Better to keep your powder dry and wait for a chance when the odds favour
you, only down side was i mentioned my day of inactivity to Mrs Silverfox
and ended up doing all those jobs i had been putting off (You would think
at my age i`d know better.)
Today i am dipping into the Eircom Premier League and having a punt on the
game between UCD who are 7th in the league and Drogheda who are 2nd.
UCD in their last 6 games have W1 D3 L2 F7 A8 and their home form over the
last 3 is W0 D2 L1 F3 A5.
Drogheda in the same 6 game period are W3 D1 L2 F8 A5 and their last 3
away have seen them W2 D0 L1 F3 A1.
Drogheda are 2 points behind leaders St Patricks but have a game in hand
so need to win tonight to keep in touch with the leaders who have an away
game at 11th placed Waterford tonight.
Drogheda`s away form in the league all season has been good as in 8 games
on the road they have only lost 1 winning 5 and drawing the other 2.
This for me gibes them the edge tonight in what i expect to be a tight
match but at best price 6/5 with Coral i believe they are worth taking a
chance on.
The only note of caution is that Drogheda do have several players out
through injury,Simon Webb could return for them after injury but Miko
Vilmunen, Jason Gavin, Richie Baker and Ollie Cahill remain out injured.
Long term injuries Shane Barrett and Declan O'Brien also remain out while
Stephen Gray is a doubt.
UCD should be almost at full strength with Paul Byrne returning after
suspension and Matt Gregg should return in goal in place of Darren
Quigley.
There hasn't been much between the clubs in recent meetings but Drogheda
won 3-2 when the sides met at Drogheda in March.
So for me an away win though i advise keeping the stakes small and even
having a saver on a double chance bet.
For those not familiar with a double chance bet it is basically when you
bet on one of 2 results occurring in 90 minutes, in this case Drogheda or
the draw though obviously if you do take a bet like this the odds are
shorter.
Good luck and good punting,
Silverfox.
