David Beckham Betting Odds

David Beckham will be all the rage after England's 2-0 defeat away to Croatia tonight. Radio phone-in are full of England fans calling for a quick Becks return to the England national side squad.
# note :: England have a friendly booked against Holland for wed, 15th November.

Beckham has been on the bench for Real Madrid for the most part this season. However, there are a few other England players who are not regulars in their club's first team at the moment.

Beckham Odds
Beckham is only 6 short of 100 caps. Ladbrokes go 6/4 Beckham to reach 100 caps before he retires. Beckham is 5/4 to play again for England within the next 2 football seasons. 2 interesting Becks related betting markets there.

Has McClaren Lost The Plot

Has Steve McClaren lost the plot?

After losing 2-0 away to Croatia this evening, the question many will be asking is indeed - has Mclaren lost the plot?

I say not. Croatia away was by far the most difficult match on paper in our Euro qualifying group. Yes, England lost 2-0, our heaviest defeat at international level for more than a decade. I can't think of an England player in form at the moment. But, we are still joint second place in the group on 7 points. We are still strong in the betting to qualify. England were favourites to win the 2008 Euro Championships outright before tonight and the bookies are never that far away with their odds.

Talksport Radio ran a poll of England fans. 73% voted for McClaren to leave now. 5 games into a new manager's reign, and the fans are calling for the manager to resign. Expectations are as high with the England fans it seems, as it is with the bookmakers. I think we are a strong outfit and should stand firm together firmly behind the manager and the players even if we lose, unlike certain newspaper journalists I won't mention by name.

Mclaren has not lost the plot, so don't panic people. The 3 lions are in for a battle. International football is never going to be a cakewalk. I think the players and the management team of McClaren and Venables will see us through.

Come on England!

England Held 0-0 At Home By Macedonia

England 0

Macedonia 0

England were held to a 0-0 draw at home (old trafford) by Macedonia yesterday afternoon.

I have been reading the newspaper reports. I have been listening to the radio phone-ins. Pretty much all have crucified Steve McClaren and the 3 lions for their apparent inept performance.

I have news for you all. The days of rolling over the likes of Turkey 7-0 went long ago with the old King.

Yes, we needed the creativity of a David Beckham. Yes, we needed the aggression, tackling and work rate of an Owen Hargreaves. Yes, we could do with a firing on all cylinders Wayne Rooney.

The truth is, England are not nailed on to beat teams with the ability the likes of Macedonia obviously have in their locker.

It's about time the England fans and the English press got behind the team through thick and thin. I am bored of "we are the best", when we win a match. I am tired with the "off with their heads", when we are held at home by an international team, who played well as a team on the day.

No, I can't be bothered with writing a match report, because what happened in the actual match is not important these days. Even Steve McClaren slagged off the team, the performance, the result, himself I guess, the Queen, the bowler hats, Big Ben and all that is English.

On a lighter note. Respect is due to the Scots, who beat the French 1-0 after a battling display. A tip of the hat to the Scottish. Nice going there boys. Berti Vogts, eat your heart out.

Come on England!
