Dash Casino: a good all round playing experience

On 9th August this year I signed up and played at Dash Casino, following the recommendation of the Gamblog editor.

Dash is a sister casino to 32Red, one of the highest regarded Microgaming operations. As such, it's an extremely safe bet and you can be sure of no payout problems assuming you follow the simple house rules. 32Red is listed on the United Kingdom Alternative Investment Market, and it carries one of the industry's more credible gambling licenses issued by the government of Gibraltar. The management team, led by Ed Ware and Pat Harrison of 32Red, is by all accounts highly efficient. I've had no cause to ever contact them myself and so cannot speak from personal experience on this matter.

Dash Casino offers a 50 signup bonus in exchange for a £50 player deposit. This bonus comes in the format of the new Microgaming "EZ bonus" system, a system which really is extremely efficient and straightforward. For guidance, there is a Quick Cash Bonus System tutorial which explains the operation clearly and in excellent detail, along with a basic Quick Cash Bonus System explanation page.

In a nutshell: both deposit and bonus are held in separate accounts, both of which are available for wagering at all times. However, the bonus is only withdrawable after the applicable wagering conditions have been met, and it is released into your cash account in stages.

The mimimum wagering for the bonus is set at thirty times your deposit amount, with different games requiring additional wagering to release the full bonus. Slots, for example, count for 100% of the basic thirty times wagering, and therefore, playing slots you need wager only 50 X 30 = £1500 to release the full bonus. At the other end of the scale, the "classic blackjack" game - described in my Microgaming Single Deck Blackjack article - only counts for 2% of the wagering, and as such this game requires £75,000 in wagering to release the full bonus! Other games, such as craps and baccarat, require wagering totals somewhere between these two extremes.

There are no cashout restrictions relating to your own deposit and winnings - you can cashout any time you want. However, if you request a cashout before any part of the bonus has been credited, you sacrifice that remainder of the bonus. For example, if you deposit £50 for a £50 bonus, then wager £1000 on classic blackjack and increase your balance to £200, a cashout at this point will result in payment of £150, with the entire £50 bonus cancelled - you would not have wagered enough for any of it to be released.

As to my own playing experience: I signed up at the flash (non download) casino on August 9th, deposited £50 and received the £50 bonus. My intention was to play classic blackjack agressively and try to win a bit of money, so I put my entire 100 balance on one hand.

I was dealt 11 v. 6 - a double down situation, with no money for the extra bet!

Never mind. Two minutes and a quick visit to the cashier later and I had the additional £100 to play with, so I hit "double". I pulled a 10 card for a perfect 21 score - but the dealer also drew out to 21, pushing my hand. I then played three more £100 hands - and won every one! At this point, I had a £500 balance, so I decided to cashout, sacrifice the entire £50 bonus and collect 300 winnings.

I was paid just two days later, on August 11th, to my bank account. This is an excellent turnaround speed for a new account.

Dash also offers a comp system which rewards you with 0.02% of your overall wagering on all games apart from slots, sic bo and keno, which are comped more generously at 0.1%. In reality this isn't a particularly generous programme, since most casinos offer default comps at rates ranging between 0.05% and 0.1% for all games. However, it's a step up from 32Red, which has in fact never offered default comps to their players, preferring to focus a personalised programme, "Club Rouge", on their best customers. This has long been my only criticism of 32Red, so I'm pleased to see that with this new operation they've decided to change the comp policy and reward all players equally, albeit somewhat stingily.

All in all this was a very satisfactory playing experience, and I'd recommend Dash Casino to anyone looking for a reliable and fast-paying Microgaming casino.

Killing Retired Greyhounds With A Bolt Gun

Putting Down Retired Greyhounds With A Bolt Gun is unnacceptable and breaches The National Greyhound Racing Club's rules.

Greyhound trainers that kill retired racers by utilising the services of euthenasers like David Smith should be barred from training & racing dogs. An old retired greyhound shot through the head with a bolt gun, then buried in Mr Smith's yard for a £10 fee is unethical.

If that is the best the greyhound racing industry can come up with while policing itself, then it can't be trusted to oversee the welfare of the dogs. Therefore the government will have to do it. We all know how well this govt regulates things. God help the greyhound.

This is no way to treat man's best friend, after thousands of punters have won and lost money betting on these dogs down the highstreet bookies.

Schinken Otto, Westfield Dancer and Dalraith are among the ones in form and we are with Schinken Otto. A keen running sort, he gained compensation for a string of fair efforts and if he has gleaned confidence from getting his head back infront, there is every reason to be on him again today. Westfield Dancer was an odds-on flop on his latest start. A maiden after 25 starts, he ran a fair race on British debut and can be expected to attempt to make the best of things from the rise of the tapes. Dalraith tends to run in snatches but has yet to win at Southwell in her previous attempts. The Dublinpublican has bits and pieces of form that would entitle him to consideration although he looks not to have progressed from his success at Wetherby. Changing Gear won a weak maiden hurdle at Worcester. The blinkers are kept on for a first bow over chase fences. Electrique's flat ability has been met with frailities over the obstacles. Play Master looks ordinary. Schinken Otto is in form and looks to be the percentage call.

Not a strong race in which Kivotos, September Moon and Burren Moonshine form the shortlist. Kivotos is the selection but he is not one to be taken at short price. A fortuitous winner at the course two runs ago, he is nevertheless a lightly raced sort who is potentially open to improvement while not being among the top draw. September Moon can be expected to bowl along at the front. She looked to have every chance when running out at the third last at Uttoxeter and wouldn't be far away on her better form. Burren Moonshine is an out-and-out stayer and has ran consistently without troubling the judge as often as she should. Siegfrieds Night beat Burren Moonshine when the pair met over hurdles at Southwell but is more exposed. Greencard Golf has been easy to back on previous chasing starts and is likely to be similarly priced here. Having considered the alternatives, Kivotos is offered as the selection.

A modest affair in which stakes should be kept to a minimum and we shall side with Ballynure although Destino and Great Benefit should provide stout opposition. Ballynure had been struggling in handicap hurdles but took advantage of a low rating over chase fences to score at Perth on his most recent start. The time figure was exceptionally slow but he jumps adequately and should give a good account in a poor race. Destino has often been well backed in the past and while a record of 0 from 15 looks modest, the Sue Smith team are in form and any market confidence should not be ignored. Assumetheposition was once rated in the mid-90's but is on a long losing run. The visor is applied for the first time. Bewleys Guest is off a platers mark and it is unlikely that Venetia Williams has any other horse so lowly rated in her string. Second to Walcot Lad at Fontwell last season, he has clearly had training troubles. Ex hunter chaser Ouh Jay has disappointed the backers on his last two starts and it remains to be seen whether they will support him for a third time. Losing Grip is a winner in selling grade but has struggled outside that class. Ballynure appears best in a very poor race.

3:45 Take Control With Wbx.com Selling Hurdle
Majestic Vision is preferred to Hanko and Crownfield. Majestic Vision hacked up in a non-seller on his latest start so it is interesting that he drops back to the grade but backers can forgive a previous disappointment at this level as the saddle slipped at a vital stage. Hanko is a rare runner in a seller for JP McManus. His official handicap rating is based on a number of fair efforts in Ireland a couple of years back and he is yet to show any sparkle since switching to Jonjo O'Neill. Crownfield looked useful when trained by Mary Reveley. Not seen out since running on the flat a year ago, Ben Pollock attempts to work the oracle. Champagne Rossini is a notorious hard puller and as a consequence the art of jumping appears almost a secondary issue during her races. Delaware Trail has ran respectably in selling grade at the track but is nothing out of the ordinary. Not a race to be getting too heavily involved with but Majestic Vision has fewer negatives than most and is afforded the selection.

4:15 Wbx.com World Bet Exchange Handicap Hurdle
Hilltime rates as a speculative selection ahead of Nesnaas and Cream Cracker. The selection has had a couple of pipe openers on the flat so should not want for fitness and as a horse that is proven on fast ground, he should have no problems with underfoot conditions and is lesser exposed than most. Cream Cracker won well at Newton Abbot over chase fences and this form was upheld by second placed, Kings Brook, who won easily since. Connections attempt to strike again off a lower hurdles mark but he could be open to a beating from something with a little more flat speed. Nesnaas hails from the relatively quiet Mark Rimell yard and was perhaps unfortunate to run up against a useful sort such as Kanpai on a previous start at the course. The handicapper has not gone mad and he should be with a chance. Broke Road is getting a little long in the tooth but he won a claiming hurdle a couple of weeks ago and is capable of maintaining a level of form. Whether he can do this off handicap terms is another matter entirely. Orpen Wide won two novice events at the beginning of the season but has struggled since. His jumping has left a lot to be desired of late and it could be prudent to oppose again. Feanor has won twice at the course but has not sparkled of late. Hilltime is still open to some improvement and he gets the nod.

4:45 Take Control With Wbx.com Handicap Hurdle
Fu Manchu is preferred to Little Task and Air Augusta. The top-weight clearly has his own ideas about the game and the blinkers have been reached for in an effort to control his wayward tendancies. This is a weaker contest than the one he finished second in at Bangor and if Noel Fehily can persuade him as to his way of thinking, he looks difficult to oppose. Little Task was a rare winner under National Hunt rules for John Wainwright. He had been steadily dropping down the weights prior to that run but as a three miler, he faces some questions over shorter. Air Augusta was a wide margin winner of a Hereford seller and he would need to step up greatly on that form as he beat a number of moderate horses on that occasion. Top The Bill and Tuesday's Child have shown little of note this term and are opposed. Fu Manchu has his quirks and while he will be a short price, he looks to be just about the percentage play.

5:15 Wbx.com World Bet Exchange Novices' Hurdle
Jamaaron is preferred to Lowsha Green and St Pancras. Jamaaron hacked up in a selling race at Stratford and while it is not always advisable to take selling form too seriously when in non-selling grade, it was clear from flagfall that he was much superior to his rivals on that occasion and the BHB handicapper appears to have him clear on this instance. Lowsha Green made all at Hexham on his latest start. The second in that race would have won at Sedgefield on Friday had he not unshipped the rider at the last. St Pancras would have rated as a certainty if this were a flat race but it isn't and he has a bit to prove after a flop at Market Rasen. The Bonus King is a light of former days while Laconicos is not totally out of this on some of his better hurdling form. Jamaaron has been found an obvious opportunity in a modest affair and we shall not oppose.

The three form horses appear to be Fen Dream, Tipsy Prince and Madam Gaffer, and we will side with the last named. Brian Meehans filly has shown plenty of ability in two better races and should be up to winning in this type of company. She was slightly hampered in her last race at Kempton and under the circumstances did well to finish a close up fifth from a poor draw. With luck in running today she should be there or thereabouts. Fen Dream ran well in a hot race at Newmarket last time and looks the type to improve with racing. Meanwhile Tipsy Prince comes into the argument on his debut second here last month. Iron Dancer is from a yard in great form and so has to be monitored closely in the betting, but Madam Gaffer can put her all-weather experience to good use and she gets our vote.

2:30 Wbx.com World Bet Exchange Median Auction Mdn Stks (div 2)
Beauchamp Viceroy, Convivial Spirit and Nepos and displayed plenty of ability last time and we will plump for Nepos. Jamie Osbornes colt improved on his debut effort to chase home Bataleur at Bath. The third home is only selling class but he was five lengths away and so the form isnt too bad in the context of this race. Beauchamp Viceroy finished second to a decent enough type on his Lingfield debut, despite running green. The experience will not be lost on him and he should be involved in the finish. Convivial Spirit was also in need of the outing on his Lingfield debut but showed plenty of promise and we could see a much better performance this afternoon. In a pretty open affair Baylini is another to consider for each-way purposes, but we side with Nepos for the likely winner.

3:00 Wbx.com World Bet Exchange Selling Stakes
Woolly Back and Mollys Secret have similar form credentials and we will give the vote to the last named, Lord Of Methley may be the pick of the remainder. Mollys Secret ran well in a claimer over course and distance last time out, chasing home Finished Article, with the third well beaten off. This represents a drop in class and she should take all the beating. Woolly Back steps up in trip after going close in a mile handicap here last time. He is well in with the selection on official ratings, but there is a stamina doubt. Lord Of Methley has been campaigned over hurdles, without too much success. However his flat form of two years ago does put him in with a fair chance in this type of company. Hes A Star has to give weight away all round but is the class act in the race and shouldnt be far away, however Mollys secret has shown the best recent form and she gets the verdict

3:30 World Bet Exchange Wbx.com Nursery Handicap
Cesc won well last time and should go close in his follow up bid, however we will take a chance with Billy Dane, Intersky Sports may do best of the others. Brian Meehans charge is making his handicap debut following three promising efforts. The most recent was at Epsom when just touched off by Five A Side, on that evidence he doesnt look badly treated and he can gain his first success. Cesc hit winning form with a vengeance, when easily beating Bobbish in a Newbury nursery. The handicapper has taken note but another big run can be expected. Intersky Sports is a solid and consistent performer and hasnt been overburdened here, he could be capable of making the frame. Of the others, Soffooh can also go well of a low mark, but we return to Billy Dane for our selection.

4:00 Wbx.com World Bet Exchange Handicap
This is one of the most open races on the card and a narrow vote is given to Rosein, with Mistral Sky and Viennas Boy put fprward as the main rivals. Rosein was successful at Southwell in June and apart from one blip, has run with credit since. On her last visit to the racecourse she was just pipped in a very competitive race won by Scuba. A repreat of the effort should be good enough this afternoon. Mistral Sky is a model of consistency and has shown a real liking for this track. He could possibly do with being dropped a couple of pounds, but nevertheless he should be in the shake up. Viennas Boy disappointed a little last time but had previously beaten Mistral Sky over course and distance. If on a going day he will be a major threat to all. Pommes Frite and The Crooked Ring also have claims on their best form, but Rosein should be capable of taking first prize today.

4:30 Take Control With Wbx.com Handicap
The two recent winner Lysanders Quest and Ice And Fire could fight out the finish here and we will plump for the first named, Aristi is an outsider with place claims. Lysanders Quest gained an overdue success at Yarmouth last month when comfortably beating the good yardstick Jadeeron. He has shown a good liking for this track and he looks set to make it back to back victories. Ice And Fire also loves it round Dunstall Park as he proved when winning her last time out. He gets on really well with his young jockey and another big run is expected. Aristi won here this time last year of a higher mark , so although disappointing in recent races he could go close if returning to his best. Johnny Alljays is another that could go well at a price, but Lysanders Quest has to be the pick on recent form.

5:00 Wbx.com World Bet Exchange Apprentice Handicap
Fiore di Bosco is given another chance following a couple of poor efforts, Scamperdale and Windy Prospect look the best alternatives. David Barrons five-year-old may well relish this return to the all-weather having been tapped for toe in two recent efforts on then turf.. Her victory over course and distance in March was against better opposition and if everything drops right this afternoon she may prove hard to beat off her current mark. Scamperdale, a course and distance winner in May, put in another solid effort here last time when third in a competitive handicap. He does have to shoulder top-weight here this afternoon, but should still be involved in the finish. Windy Prospect is steadily coming to hand and is from a yard firing in the winners, he may get into the places. All in all a very open affair but Fiore di Bosco does look the pick of the weights and this one gets our vote

Thirsk, 14 August 2006
5:55 E.b.f. Oswalds Restaurant Rooms Median Auction Maiden Stakes
Catlivius showed plenty of promise on her debut and can land this open looking event, Le Masque and Smirfy's Diamond may do best of the others. Kevin Ryan's filly tended to run green on her Ripon debut and hung right, lacking cover on the outside of the field - she is bound to improve and looked a likely future winner for her trainer's strong team of juveniles. Le Masque is an interest ing newcomer. Bryan Smart has a good line to two-year-old form and this well colt will know his job first time up. Smirfy's Diamond has gone well against decent opposition in two races to date and once again should be involved in the finish. The pick of the remainder could be Shotley Mac, but for the winner we have to side with catlivius.

6:25 Beatrice Stephenson Handicap
River Kirov showed plenty of determination to win last time out and can follow up this afternoon, Northern Chorus and Tender Process could be the main dangers. Peter Chapple-Hyam's colt had run a good fourth at Newbury on his handicap debut and confirmed he is still on the upgrade as he responded to pressure to get up on the line to beat Peter Island at Nottingham. There should be more to come from this relatively unexposed sort. Northern Chorus also hit winning form last time out, landing a decent enough Redcar handicap. He doesn't really have the scope of the selection but should still be thereabouts at the business end. Tender Process makes his handicap debut following three promising runs in maidens. He gets in here on a very low mark and he could go well at a decent price. The pick of the others could be Rainbow Bay, but there could be plenty more to come from River Kirov and he gets the verdict.

6:55 Black Sheep Brewery Handicap
Primondo is given the nod here ahead of Master Nimbus and Comical errors. James Fanshawe's colt probably didn't act on the all-weather last time but had previously run a blinder when just pipped at Haydock. This contest doesn't look any harder and a big run can be expected. Master Nimbus improved on his seasonal debut effort to chase home Thornaby Green at Newcastle. With more progression likely he should play a major role. Comical Errors returned from a spell over the jumps with a good effort at Catterick last month. He looks on a decent mark on the pick of his past flat form and could reward each-way support. Top-weight Jumeirah Scarer is another to consider for the places, but we return to Primondo as our choice for the winner.

7:25 Racing At Beverley On Wednesday Maiden Auction Stakes
Kay Gee Bee gets a narrow vote in thsi maiden event, Cassie's Choice and Let's Get Cracking are put forward as the main dangers. Jamie Spencer takes the ride on the selection who has put in two solid efforts in defeat. The latest came in a decent race at Newmarket when second behind Charlie Farnsbarns. The extra furlong looks ideal and he should give a good backers a run for their money. Lets Get Cracking is a newcomer trained by Kevein Ryan, who has a few first time out juvenile winners this season. The seven furlongs should be ideal for this son of Anabaa Blue and any market confidence should be noted. Cassie's Choice is steadily improving with racing and is from a yard that has plenty of two-year-old talent. The pick of the rest could be Lady Best, but Kay Gee Be is dropping slightly in class and can make it pay.

7:55 Hambleton Inn Sutton Bank Selling Handicap
Tequila Sheila gets a sporting vote in a difficult race to assess, Cut Ridge and Linden's Lady look to be the main dangers. Karl Burke's filly hasn't won since here two-year-old days, when earning a top rating of 84. She has obviously regressed but did put in a decent effort in a class five handicap at Carlisle last time and should be capable of winning in this grade. Cut Ridge was three places ahead of the selection in that contest but is three pounds worse off today. He should still be on the premises but this mile trip is a slight concern. Linden's Lady is another one dropping down the weights and has strong claims on a recent effort behind Sawaah Musselburgh. Legal Dram is another to consider for each-way purposes, but Tequila Sheila is the the tentative choice in a wide open contest.

8:25 Fairfax Arms Gilling East Handicap
Two horses bidding for hat-tricks here Cool Ebony and Just Lille and we just favour the first named, Rainbow's Classic may do best of the others. There has been a lot to like about Cool Ebony's victories. He moves nicely through his races and just does enough to win. There could be plenty more in the locker and he can make it three wins in a row. Just Lille, on the other hand has been a wide margin winner at Ayr and Haydock. She has been punished by the handicapper, but is obviously still on the upgrade. Rainbow's Classic has been running much better than his form figures suggest and has been steadily dropping down the weights. Watch out for any market move on this one. All in all a decent enough handicap and Cool Ebony just gets the verdict.

Windsor, 14 August 2006
5:45 Racing At Santa Rosa Fillies' Nursery Auction Handicap
Richard Hannon is always to be feared in this type of event and, from the ideal draw in stall 11, Top Royelle is taken to give him another winner with Dolly Coughdrop and Yerevan rated the main dangers. The selection has shown improvement with each outing and looks to be on a fair mark for her first start in this grade. Angeletta has been thereabouts in recent outings and should be again here, while Drifting Gold is going the right way and represents a yard that has been in fair form of late but she may be a shade high in the weights at present. Dolly Coughdrop is consistent but may be open to less improvement than most of these, while Yerevan was not beaten far in a similar contest at Chester last time and has to be respected on that evidence. Richard Hannon's Whipchord has a nice racing weight but stablemate Top Royelle offers more solid claims and should improve further for this longer trip.

6:15 Vc Casino.com Maiden Stakes
Manhasset Indian, a Johannesburg half-brother to a couple of winners trained by Jeremy Noseda, may be of interest first time out but, along with Benchmark, has been done no favours with the draw and preference is for Woqoodd. The selection lacks a previous run but the Michael Jarvis-trained colt is bred to be useful and, with the benefit of a draw in stall 12, he may be worth chancing at the likely odds. Dean Ivory's Bertoliver has shown promise in his two starts but needs to improve, while Dance of Dreams is likely to need the run first time out as trainer Nick Littmoden very rarely has a two-year-old ready for his first start. Brian Meehan's Dan Tucker is entitled to step up on his debut run but needs to and of more interest may be the more experienced Benchmark. Woqoodd is an interesting newcomer though and he gets the vote.

6:45 Vc Casino.com Handicap
Envision has won his last three, all in claimers, and returns to a handicap off what looks a fair mark so he has to be respected but preference is for Coleridge, with Our Putra rated the best of the rest. The selection made a winning start to his career in this country when getting up close home at Nottingham last time. A 4lb rise for that success looks perfectly fair and Brendan Powell's gelding is taken to follow up here. Golden Applause ran better at Epsom last time but may not have the speed for the drop back to a mile, while Leoballero may struggle to give weight away all round. Our Putra is less exposed than most of these and can be expected to improve further but Coleridge represents a yard very much in form at present and he makes more appeal.

7:15 Play At Vc Casino.com Handicap
Idle Power deserves to get his head in front after a string of consistent efforts in competitive handicaps but has had little respite from the handicapper and a better bet looks to be Kostar, who gets the vote ahead of Greenslades. The last mentioned never threatened in the Wokingham last time but had won well at Newmarket the time before on a softer surface and he could be of interest if any rain arrives. Obe Gold is usually thereabouts and should be again here but could do with some help from the handicapper. Grimes Faith disappointed here last time and may now be best watched, while Blue Tomato is another that may be a shade high in the weights at present. The vote then goes to Kostar, who has been running well without a great deal of luck of late and comes from a yard that is in good form at present.

7:45 Play Blackjack At Vc Casino.com Maiden Stakes
Duke Of Milan and Well Guarded probably have the best form among those to have raced previously but neither makes any great appeal and this may go to one of the newcomers with the vote given to Pikaboo. The selection is a Pivotal half-sister to several winners trained by John Gosden and can be expected to be forward enough to make a winning debut. Godolphin are represented by the Forestry colt Very Far, who could be anything but is unlikely to represent any great value given his connections. You Live And Learn is entitled to improve but needs to and of more interest may be Giles Bravery's consistent Duke Of Milan. Pikaboo makes plenty of appeal on pedigree though and gets the vote to make a winning debut.

8:15 Monday Night Racing With Vc Casino.com Handicap
Bay Hawk made an encouraging return on his first start since May when chasing home Undeterred over course and distance in an amateur riders' contest last week and, while the bounce factor has to be of some concern, Brendan Powell's colt did not seem to have a hard race that day and can go one better at the main expense of Looks The Business and Melvino. The last mentioned has been running consistently well of late but could probably do with some help from the handicapper so may be best watched. Hatch A Plan has yet to prove that he truly stays this far, while Scottish River is another that is probably better over shorter. Looks The Business lost no caste in defeat in a better race than this here last time and has to be considered but preference is for Bay Hawk, who is taken to go one better than last time.

BBC Cutting Goodwood Horseracing Free

Horse racing on the BBC will not include Goodwood says Barbara Slater - BBC head of general sports..

Barbara wrote ::
"We have covered Goodwood for 50 years and we would be sorry to end our partnership, although we have offered to continue to cover the Glorious Goodwood meeting after 2006.

We have however decided not to offer year-round coverage of other race meetings from Goodwood.

I understand their ambition is to have their racing covered year-round and if they can find that opportunity with another broadcaster we wish them well.

We remain committed to racing and we are very proud to bring some of the greatest occasions in racing to the widest possible audience.

We have the rights until 2009 for the Grand National meeting from Aintree, the Derby meeting from Epsom and Royal Ascot."

Gamblog Comment :: This is how the Beeb see's fit to NOT spend my TV license fee. In it's place will be more programme repeats, more Australian day-time soaps and another cookery programme. Wonderful.

I personally would prefer to see the BBC air all Goodwood meetings.

Never Welch On A Bet

It is grim when a gambler, a bookie, or anyone, welches on a bet. If you gamble and lose, whether you are the punter or the house, you should pay up - promptly. There's a few casinos and sportsbooks online, that could do with heeding that advice.

American Horse Racing Bans Kieron Fallon

Kieron Fallon's Anerican racing ban, means he will not be riding "Ace" in the 1 and a quarter mile Arlington Million, or "Ivan Denisovich" for Irish trainer Aiden O'Brien in the Secretariat Stakes in Illinois USA tommorrow (sat, aug 12, 2006).

The Illinois Racing Board respect other horseracing jurisdictions rulings in American States and the Arlington Park stewards feel Kieron Fallon's presence will "call into question the honesty and integrity of horse racing due to his current indictment in England of conspiracy to defraud" according to the Thoroughbred Times (usa)

American jockey Garret Gomez rides Ace in place of Fallon in the Arlington. In the Secretariat, Fallon will be replaced by rider John Velasquez,

Is It Me gets the confident vote here with Carr Hall and Princess Toto rating the main dangers. The selection has won his only two races to date in facile fashion over hurdles notably when beating Genitan last time out, he again has conditions to suit and despite his double penalty he will be hard to beat. Carr Hall rates the main danger on his latest fourth behind Ever Special but on a line through that horse he has a little to find with the selection. Princess Toto hails from a yard that does well in these events but the suspicion is she will improve for the run. Of the remainder Ryhope Chief showed a modicum of ability on the flat and should be noted in the market but for the winner we return to Is It Me.

3:00 Bgp & Bes Consulting Engineers Beginners' Chase
General Alarm gets the tentative nomination here with Palace Walk and Sir Night rating the main dangers. The selection won last time but was disqualified, however that form looks rock solid and under conditions that suit he looks the one to be on. Palace Walk rates the main danger on his best hurdles form he is sure to have been well schooled for this his chasing debut and should be noted in the market. Sir Knight has plenty of experience over fences but he looks to have his own ideas about the game so can not be put forward with any confidence. Of the remainder Kerry's Blade has schooled well at home and should be noted in the market but in a trappy affair for the winner we return to Sir Night.

3:30 John Wade Equine Fibre & Rubber Sell Handicap Hurdle (qual)
Kingscourt Lad gets the confident vote in this seller with Charlie Tango and Tinian rating the main dangers. The selection was a good second behind Stoksies Boy in a better race last time out, this represents a drop in class and under conditions that suit he will be hard to beat. Charlie Tango rates the main danger on his latest sixth behind Barney but that form has since been let down and although dropping in grade the suspicion is he will be seen to better effect over a longer trip. Tinian is another that could go well on his latest third behind Mystic Glen but he is very hard to win with. Of the remainder Maunby Reveller is from a shrewd yard and could improve for the fitting of a first time tongue tie and cheek pieces so should be noted in the market while Smart Tiger is another dropping in grade from a yard in form but he looks weighted up to his best and with this in mind for the winner we return to Kingscourt Lad.

4:00 Jewson Novices' Hurdle (qualifier)
First Cry, Kaky and Fifth Column are three against the field in this trappy novices hurdle but Kaky is given the tentative nomination. the selection won well last time when beating Rouge Fatal in a claiming chase in his native France. He looks to have been found a nice race to make his British debut and in a poor affair he looks the value bet. First Cry rate the main danger on his latest third behind Ballyhurry but he looked woefully one paced and is passed over for that reason. Fifth Column is another that could go well as he showed a modicum of ability in points and should be noted in the market. Of the remainder Campli is game and consistent and is sure to run his race while Wrenlane is unexposed and is another to note in thew market but for the winner we return to Kaky.

4:30 Ljj Contractors 01642 617517 Handicap Chase
Mandingo Chief, Pams Oak and Now Then Sid, are three against the field in this handicap chase and the tentative vote is given to Mandingo Chief. The selection would be a confident vote if guaranteed a fluent round of fencing as he remains fairly weighted and has conditions to suit but that is a big if. Pams Oak rates the main danger on his latest third behind Tommy Spar, that form has since been franked but he is very onepaced and again looks vulnerable. Now Then Sid is another that could go well as he has plenty in his favour but he looks weighted up to his best. Of the remainder Billie John is game and consistent and is sure to run his race while Rifleman would be a danger to all if on a going day but for the winner we return to Mandingo Chief in the hope that his jumping holds up.

5:00 Garnetts Coaches Handicap Hurdle
Soviet Sceptre, Lord Rosskit and Tickateal are three against the field in a competitive finale and the vote is given to Lord Rosskit. The selection was given plenty to do when only third behind Stoksies Boy last time out and if ridden closer to the pace here he will be hard to beat under his optimum conditions. Soviet Sceptre rates the main danger as he looked the likely winner until falling two out, if his confidence has not been effected he will not be far away. Tickateal is another that could go well on his latest fifth behind Poor Tactics but he just gave the impression the handicapper had caught up with him on that occasion and he is opposed for that reason. High Country has dropped to a handy mark and could go well at a price but he has shown very little of late. Of the remainder McQueen won well last time out but had an easy lead there and as that does not look likely she looks worth taking on.

Worcester, 11 August 2006
2:20 Caribbean Night August 22nd Amateur Riders' Handicap Hurdle
Nicky Henderson may not be the biggest fan of summer jumps racing but Terramarique has been performing well in similar grade of late and is taken to win again with the main dangers looking to come from My Retreat and Wee Danny. The last mentioned has more to do than when winning at Newton Abbot last time so may be best watched off his new mark today. Oscar The Boxer is strictly held by the selection on running at Uttoxeter, while Mrs Philip looks to be one of the lesser lights in the yard of Phillip Hobbs. My Retreat may do better up in distance having found only the useful McQueen too good at Uttoxeter last time but the vote goes to Terramarique, who is in good form at the moment and is hard to oppose even off his new mark.

2:50 Home Of Summer Jumping Claiming Hurdle
This should not take a great deal of winning and Shamsan looks to have been given a suitable opportunity to resume winning ways with Big Max and Mister Completely rated the main dangers. The selection was good value for his win at Huntingdon two starts ago and, although disappointing here subsequently, Jack Joseph's nine-year-old may be worth another chance in this lowly company. Iceberge has only had two starts since winning at Stratford in October and may struggle to give weight away all round, while Coppermalt faces no easy task at the weights. Derreen Boy is difficult to recommend on recent evidence and of more interest may be Big Max. Karen George's gelding ran better in this grade last time and has to be considered on that evidence, while Mister Completely is less exposed over hurdles than most of these and could be of interest. Shamsan has solid claims on the pick of his form though and he gets the vote to make amends for his last time out defeat.

3:20 Great Grandstand Value Package Novices' Hurdle
Ar An Shron showed promise on his debut here over three miles and has to be respected but Jonjo O'Neill's gelding is unlikely to represent much in the way of value and preference is for True Star, who gets the vote ahead of Dubai Dreams. The selection, a bumper winner, was pulled up on his hurdling debut last time with his jockey suspecting that he had gone lame. That was not the case though and Noel Chance's gelding may be worth another chance as she is likely to have been extensively schooled since then. Pure Pleasure is becoming exposed, while neither of the newcomers Linden Boy nor Grand Display make much appeal on pedigree. Port Of Mogan has shown limited ability from his four previous starts and would be of interest if the market spoke in his favour but a bigger threat is likely to come from Dubai Dreams. The six-year-old has had plenty of chances though and a better bet looks to be True Star, who gets the vote.

3:50 Bob Love 'king Of Dirt' Memorial Beginners' Chase
Dubai Ace looks to be getting his act together now over fences and has to be respected but Kings Brook looks to have found an ideal opportunity to open his account over the larger obstacles and he gets the vote with Resplendent Star rated the best of the rest. The selection has been running with great consistency over fences of late and a reproduction of recent efforts should suffice. Texas Ranger had some decent form over hurdles three years ago but is clearly not as good as he once was, while Jonjo O'Neill's The Rising Moon, who was no world-beater over hurdles, lacks any chasing experience and may be best watched on his debut over fences. Resplendent Star has shown enough to suggest that he can win races over fences but his form does not match that of Kings Brook, who gets the vote.

4:20 Tom Hingley's 21st Birthday Selling Handicap Hurdle
In a competitive contest what can only be a tentative vote goes to Tianyi, who is preferred to Positano and Eyes To The Right. The last mentioned has claims on the pick of his form but is inconsistent so may be best watched. Oktis Morilious has yet to win a race over hurdles, while Koln Stars has slipped to a fair mark but has given little cause for optimism. Mardereil is less exposed than most of these but is hard to recommend, while Tilla has a nice racing weight but again is hard to back with any confidence. Positano has shown improved form of late and has to be respected in a race that may not take a great deal of winning but Tianyi has more solid claims on recent form and he is preferred.

4:50 Weatherbys Bank Handicap Chase
Rare Society was good value for his win in a beginners' chase over course and distance last time and is taken to follow up back in a handicap here with the main threats looking to come from He's The Biz and Aston. The last mentioned has been running consistently well of late but has paid the penalty at the hands of the handicapper as a result. Meehan is probably a shade high in the weights now, while Flahive's First is another that has paid for his consistency and may now be booked for a place at best. Cristophe has been running well over hurdles of late and can race off a lower mark back over fences so has to be considered, while Jonjo O'Neill's Lake Merced has failed to complete in his last four starts and is hard to recommend. He's The Biz is closely matched with Aston on running here last time and he is another to consider but Rare Society could be an improving gelding and he gets the vote.

5:20 Severn Suite Restaurant For Lunch Maiden Hurdle
War At Sea had some respectable form on the flat when with Marcus Tregoning and showed enough on his hurdling debut here last month to suggest that a race of this nature would be within his compass and he gets the vote ahead of Hiawatha and Nikolaiev. The last mentioned represents the yard of Nicky Henderson that always has to be respected with their runners but he needs to improve to trouble the selection. Quarrymount reverts to hurdles after a spell chasing but looks booked for a place at best. Cash On and Stanbury are others to consider but a bigger danger is likely to come from Hiawatha, who has shown a decent level of form in recent starts over timber. War At Sea was easily the best of these on the flat and already looks to be the pick of these over hurdles so he gets the vote.

Lingfield, 11 August 2006
2:10 Celebrate Your Wedding At Lingfield Novice Stakes (aw)
Holdin Folding gets the vote here with My Valerina and Fairfields Princess rating the main dangers. The selection won well last time out when beating Desert Maze and although this looks tougher he looks a progressive type and under conditions that suit he is taken to defy the handicapper. My Valerina rates the main danger on her latest fourth behind Vale Of Belvoir but that form has since been let down and at likely odds he looks worth taking on. Fairfields Princess is game and consistent and is sure to run his race but she appears to have regressed of late and is opposed for that reason. Of the remainder Rocker is from a yard in form and should be noted in the market but for the winner we return to Holdin Folding.

2:40 Golf And Gamble Fillies' Selling Stakes (aw)
Ishibee, Marist Madame and Daring Daisy are three against the field in this desperate seller and the vote is given to Marist Madame. The selection was a fair third behind Sad Times last time out, this looks easier and under conditions that suit she is given the tentative nomination. Ishibee rates the main danger on his best form but he has had plenty of chances without taking one and is passed over for that reason. Daring Daisy has shown a modicum ability in three runs to date but has been done no favours by the draw. Prima Luna is from a yard that can ready a newcomer and should be noted in the market while Mamalini has given the impression he would be seen to better effect over a longer trip and with this in mind for the winner we return to Marist Madame to small stakes.

3:10 Ladies Evening Tomorrow Handicap (aw)
Sant Elena gets the vote in this tight handicap with Stonescrabtomorrow and His Masters Voice rating the main dangers. The selection won well last time out when beating Greek Renaissance. that form looks rock solid in the context of this race and although he has a penalty for that win he looks a progressive and he is taken to defy a penalty. Stonecrab tomorrow rates the main danger on his latest second behind Ludivico but he has yet to win over this trip. His Masters Voce also won well last time out when beating Up Tempo but this looks tougher and he will need to improve again to win off this higher mark. Libor would have a chance on his best form but disappointed for no apparent reason last time out so can not be put forward with any confidence. Of the remainder Xaluna Bay is game and consistent and is sure to run his race but for the winner we return to Sant Elena.

3:40 Book Online For A Discount Fillies' Handicap (aw)
Divine White, Red Vixen and Blakeshall Quest are three against the files in this tight handicap and the narrow nomination is given to Red Vixen. The selection was a fair third behind Takitwo last time out, that form has since been franked and off the same mark where he will be hard to beat. Divine White rates the main danger on his latest second behind Celtic Spa especially if first time cheek pieces bring about some more improvement and he should be watched in the market. Blaksehall Quest remains on a handy mark but has yet to win over this trip. Of the remainder Tuscany Queen could go well at a price but she has two ways of running and for the winner we return to Red Vixen.

4:10 Lingfield Park Golf Club Maiden Stakes
Tip Toes gets the vote here with Overlook and Naini Tal rating the main dangers. The selection was a fair second behind Arch Folly last time out, that form looks rock solid in the context of this race and he need only run up to that mark to win this with a little in hand. Overlook rates the main danger as he hails from a yard in form is dropping in class, stepping up in trip and should be closely watched in the market. Naini Tal is another that could go well as he has shown a modicum of ability in three runs to date and should be noted in the market while Riff Raff is clearly thought capable of better but in a race where the market will be very informative for the winner we return to Tip Toes to small stakes.

4:40 Lingfieldpark.co.uk Handicap
Stolen Hours, Ardea Brave and King's Fable are three against the field in another tight handicap and the tentative vote is given to Stolen Hours. The selection was a fair fourth behind Pensevey last time out and with this shorter trip looking to be in his favour he looks the value bet in an open affair. Ardea Brave rates the main danger on his latest second behind Celique that form has since been franked but he has had plenty of chances and is becoming hard to win with. King's Fable is another that could go well on his best form but he disappointed for no apparent reason last time out so can not be put forward with any confidence the remainder Serramanna ran well last time and again has conditions to suit but this looks tougher. This is a trappy affair and stakes should be kept to a minimum but for the winner we return to Stolen Hours.

5:10 Lingfield Park Leisure Club Handicap
A wide open contest rounds off the card and many would have chances on their best form but the principals look to be Fantasy Crusader, Oakley Absolute and Good Article and the vote is given to Fantasy Crusader. The selection was an unlucky in running eighth behind Glendale last time out, remains on a fair mark and in the hope that he gets all the breaks here he looks the one to be on. Oakley Absolute rates the main danger on his latest fifth behind Mighty Moon as he has dropped to a handy mark but consistency is not his strong point so he can not be put forward with any confidence. Good Article is another worthy of respect but he just gave the impression the handicapper had caught up with him last time and he is opposed with this in mind. Of the remainder Blu Manruna is another from a yard in form and could go well at a price but for the winner we are happy to return to Fantasy Crusader.

Haydock, 11 August 2006
6:00 Mtb Group Handicap
Eldorado gets the confident vote here with Nakwa, Let It Be and Linden Lime,. The selection was a good second behind Rehearsed last time out, that form has since been franked and under similar conditions here he need only reproduce that effort to win this with a little hand. Nakwa rates the main danger on his latest fourth behind River Lodgi but he looks weighted up to his best and is becoming hard to win with so he looks worth taking on.Let It Be is another that could go well on his best form but he is another that looks weighted up to the hilt. Of the remainder Golden Boot has dropped to a handy mark but is better with more cut in the ground and with this in mind for the winner we return to Eldorado.

6:30 Countrywide Freight Nursery Handicap
Cosmopolitan Lady, Loves Bidding and Violet's Pride are three against the field in this competitive handicap and the vote is given to Cosmopolitan Lady. The selection was a fair second behind Frontline In Focus last time out, that form has since been franked and off what remains a fair mark she looks the one to be on from a good draw. Loves Bidding rates the main danger as he won well last time when beating Astroangel but this looks more competitive and he will need to improve again to score. Violet's Pride is another worthy of respect on her latest second behind Black Moma and her best form is with more cut in the ground so she looks worth taking on. Of the remainder Ghost Dancer and Proud hail from yards that have good records in these events and are others to note in the market but for the winner we return to Cosmopolitan Lady.

7:00 E.b.f. Novice Fillies' Stakes
Wild gets the vote here with Chervil and Boreal Applause rating the main dangers. The selection won well on her debut despite being unfancied, is sure to have learnt from the experience and given nominal improvement she will be very hard to beat. Chervil rates the main danger as she also won well last time out when beating Empress Olga but this looks tougher and she needs to improve again to score. Boreal Applause is another that could go well as she also won well last time when beating Zonta Zikala but she hung badly on that occasion and is opposed for that reason. Of the remainder Tender Moments would have a big chance if the rains arrive but for the winner we return to Wild who looks sure to improve.

7:30 E.b.f. John Good Memorial Maiden Stakes
Tudor Prince can win this at the expense of Astronomic View and Blue Rocket. The selection has been knocking on the door of late finishing second at Epsom and more recently at Kempton when second to Stagehand. He looks to be off a handy enough mark and while he is in such good form he is worth sticking with. Astronomic View is less exposed with two runs under his belt finishing third on both occasions. He definitely showed improvement on his latter run and another bold bid is expected. Blue Rocket has his debut for a yard doing well at present so any market moves should be noted but for the winner we return to Tudor Prince.

8:00 Richard Bolton Insurance Group Silver Jubilee Claiming Stks
Peruvian Style can land the claimer at the expense of Special Gold and Endless Summer. The selection has again conditions to suit after his Bath victory on Tuesday and if showing no signs of jet lag then there is no reason why Milton Bradleys contender cant win yet again. Special Gold has not won since June of last year. He had been competing in handicap company and had been finding life tough but this drop back in class will add to his chances and if showing his best form of last season he has to be a danger from a yard doing well. Endless Summer won a handicap here last month and followed it up with a good performance when second at Windsor. His latest effort though was disappointing so connections have dropped him in grade and brought him back to a place he enjoys so he is therefore a live contender. But for the winner we return to Peruvian Style.

8:30 Wilmslow Handicap
A competitive finale with Superior Star, Joshuas Gold and Chicken Soup all live contenders with the vote going to the last named. The selection comes form a yard doing really well at present and the horse himself has been in blinding form of late also having finished second twice before winning at Chester last time out. Connections are running with a six pound penalty so therefore must be confident of a bold show so he is one to keep on the right side of for now. Superior Star does the same buy carrying a penalty after his win at Musslelburgh. He seems a horse that is at the top of his game at present so is another to note in the market. As is Joshuas Gold who won on the all weather at Wolverhampton in June but has had to settle for second best since then at Haydock and Thirsk most recently and may find one too good once more this time around. So for the winner we return to Chicken Soup.

Newmarket, 11 August 2006
5:45 Jools Holland 10th Anniversary Maiden Stakes
Ea can land the opener at the expense of Style Sunday and Dubai Builder. The selection is a newcomer from the Stoute yard and is well related and well connected. The stable are more than apt to ready them first time out so the market should be noted. Style Sunday will pose as the biggest danger to the selection and is another newcomer from a yard that has a good strike rate in these types of races. He is bred with plenty of speed in his pedigree so with conditions looking likely to suit he is worth noting. As is Dubai Builder is a horse with experience under his belt and his form is half decent with it. He improved from his debut to finish third of eight behind Okikoki at Chepstow last time out so has to be respected. But for the winner we return to the newcomer Ea.

6:15 Headland International Selling Stakes
Sunstroke has the ability to win this at the expense of La Marmotte and Equal And Approval. The selection has been in good form of late winning at Brighton and then finishing fourth of nine at Yarmouth last time out. He still looks weighted to win and if producing his best will prove difficult to beat. La Marmotte has been running well in handicaps and now drops into selling grade for the first time. She finished an eye catching fourth of eleven on the all weather at Southwell last time out and this looks easier so any market moves should be noted. Equal And Demand has to be respected as he comes from a big yard that dont train bad horses as a rule. He has not set the world alight in two maiden races to date but this is a drop in grade so he has to be noted. But for the winner we return to Sunstroke.

6:45 Firestone Building Products Nursery Handicap
A competitive race with Strike Force, Just Dust and Tobosa being the main rivals with the vote going to the last named. Tobosa comes here with a six pound penalty after wins at Yarmouth and more recently at Newmarket and looks a horse on the up grade. He won off seventy seven in his first handicap so connections must feel he could be well treated still so is one to stay on the right side of. Just Dust has been in terrific form as well this season winning on four occasions. His last success at Goodwood was off seventy three and once again connections have decided to run with a penalty. He will find it tougher this time though and it will be a surprise if he can defy the handicapper once more. Strike Force is relatively unexposed with only two runs and one win. That came at Lingfield back in June and is open to further improvement and is one to watch in the market. But for the winner we return to Tobosa.

7:15 Mykal Industries Ltd Handicap
Gambling Spirit can win this at the expense of Sonny Parkin and Qualitaire Wings. The selection will carry a penalty after his two latest wins at Folkestone and Yarmouth. He beat Taka Naka quite convincingly last time and he will be set to rise in the ratings so could be well in. Sonny Parkin does the same by carrying a six pound penalty for his win at Newmarket last time out. He was following another decent effort so is in great fettle at present so is a live contender. As is Qualitaire Wings who caught the eye at Newmarket on his latest start when second to Mighty Moon so another bold show is expected. But for the winner we return to Gambling Spirit.

7:45 Travelex Conditions Stakes
Windsor Knot can finally get his head in front this season after two frustrating seconds at the expense of Khyber Kim and Degas Art. The selection has been knocking on the door of late and was a close second behind Tam Lin at Newbury last time with todays main rival Khyber Kim back in third. The latter will struggle to reverse placings even though he is entitled to come on for the run. The selection won two nice races last year as a three year old and has been unlucky so far this term but with conditions to suit he can turn his luck around. Degas Art has been running consistently well all year and did get his head in front at Salisbury in May but has since found life tough. He looks the type to do better in handicaps so for the winner we return to Windsor Knot.

8:15 Mineral Star Handicap
A wide open looking handicap that can go the way of Critic at the expense of Kingscross and Titinius. The selection has been dropped to a mark that he is more than capable of winning off and has been in decent form of late too without winning. His last win was in January on the all weather but his latest effort at Epsom when fourth to Scrummage looks good enough to us and if reproducing the same level of form he can take all the beating. Kingscross has not won since August of last year but is another who has now dropped to a handy mark. He caught the eye at Newmarket when third of fourteen and is worth noting in the betting market. As is Titinius who has a nice racing weight and was not totally disgraced at Pontefract when fourth behind the improving Mr Wolf. But for the winner we return to Critic.

Free Carruthers Unhappy With Sunday Mail

The Mail on Sunday tries to stir up a scandal and gets it badly wrong says the editor of the Free David Carruthers website.

I read the newspaper journalist/writer Sharon Churcher has indeed, waffled on about a subject she knows little about, or investigated properly.

You be the judge.

Antigua Beating US - Against All Odds

Against All Odds is a decent write up about the online gaming ban. The online gaming ban that excludes horseracing.

The WTO ruled the Americans must ban all online gaming outlets, or the Antiguans win. The problem is, the WTO cannot enforce it's ruling and the Antiguans cannot exactly sanction the big old USA via trade. The only sanction the Antiguans can hope to exact on the US is "shame".

Easy TV Quiz Games - Skill or Lottery?

Tv shows with quizes for prizes are being scrutinised by the UK Gambling Commission because the questions are too easy. This means that pretty much everyone can enter via a phoneline, with fees charged to their telephone bill, which arguably constitutes a lottery.

The all-night Quiz shows on ITV and Channel 5 are no better, even though the questions are harder. Punters still ring up premium rate phone numbers (75pence) with wayward answers, hoping against hope to win £10k. The house cut on these all night cash quizes, aired live on terrestrial tv must be astronomical.

Children get through live on air. They cannot win anything because they are underage to gamble/participate, but I have seen no evidence of returned charges to the bill payer.

Reasonable 5/2 Ante Post Bet On Henry

Some ante post tips for the upcoming football season written by the The Fortune Hunter

Irish Bookie Price Error Situation

An Irish punter and Harrington's Bookmakers are at odds over a price error shown on the betting shop screen. The in-shop price monitor showed 10/11, whereas the correct price should have shown 4/6.

220 was bet by Pat McDonnell from Bagenalstown. The horse won and should have returned him 420 at the taken odds of 10/11. The Harrington Bookmakers on Dublin Street in Carlow only offered Pat the 4/6 odds total, ie 366, upon production of the winning betting slip, a difference of 54.

Gamblog Comment :: The bookies have quoted technical error. Faulty transmission of correct odds to the betting shop, sourced from London apparently. Harrington's Bookmakers are clearly within their rights to withhold the 54.

I would pay the gambler if I ran Harrington's, to keep the local punter(s) happy and confident in the sincerity of the firm. Big bets will not be allowed until the racing room, (or in Harrington's case the owner) has been alerted and a decision is made regarding the striking of any given large wager. It's not like a precedent will be set, that will close the betting operation upon the next palpable error.

Gamblog Comment :: I agree. At face value, David Carruthers sacking by his employer, for being arrested for doing his job, politely put - is a liberty.

Personally, I think it is face-paint, purposely applied liberally, in cahoots with the arrested David Carruthers. Probably Carruthers idea.
