Macedonia v England
UEFA European Championship Qualifier

Gradski, Skopje
England squeezed past Macedonia with a fully deserved 1-0 away win, courtesy of Peter Crouch and some quality late defensive work by Ashley Cole.
The first half was dour. England were a bit disjointed. Macedonia were solid enough, but never pushed forward much.
Straight after the half time break, Frank Lampard intercepted a Macedonian clearance, picked up the loose ball, hooked the ball into the centre for the waiting Johnny on the spot Peter Crouch, who volleyed home acrobatically. That's like, 11 goals in 9 games for Crouch.
The last 15 minutes was your typical backs to the wall away from home jobby. 1-0 up, not wanting to give anything away, the home team bombing forward with nothing to lose. We held on well enough in the end. Probably gave away posession too much late on, normal stuff.
The main thing is the 3 lions picked up 3 precious away points in the Euro qualifiers. There will be more visits to the Eastern block in this group. Let's hope the result is the same.
That's only 6 points from 2 games, which can't be bad.
