QPR Defender Danny Shittu Joins Watford is the new headline.
Yesterday the West Brom (baggies) site had Shittu's transfer up in lights, but Premier League Watford (hornets) have gazzumped Bryan Robson at the last minute.
Shittu has left QPR for Watford (vicarage road) for a transfer fee of £1.6 million cash, with a further £1.4 million dependant on appearances or other "criteria", whatever that means. The Watford offer was better apparently. Shittu has signed a 3 year deal.
Big Danny joined QPR from Charlton in 2001 after 2 months on loan. QPR paid about £250,000 for the 6'3 Nigerian international. Danny played 172 games for the Rangers, scoring 16 goals from centre back.
Danny will struggle in the premier league. His positional sense is not of the standard needed at the top level. I think the 1.6 million is a decent fee, but the extra 1.4 dependant on Danny and/or Watford being successful in the Premier will be a long time coming I think.
