Sweden 2Allback 51
Larsson 90
England 2Joe Cole 34
Gerrard 85
England failed to beat Sweden again, it has only been 38 years since we beat the Swedes. Even taking the lead twice and lastly through an 85th minute Gerrard header was'nt enough to bury the
Swedish team tonight.
Anyway, England play Equador in the final 16 of the World Cup finals, which could be worse. If the 3 lions had lost, next would have been the auld enemy Germany. Instead, a draw was enough to top Group B.
So England march on without impressing aside Joe Cole's wonder strike. I contest we played a bit better tonight. The problem is Owen looks crocked with a twisted knee (ligaments), Rio Ferdinand limped off to be replaced by Sol Campbell and of course, Gary Neville is still out with a calf strain.
Aside the 3 goalkeepers, I make that 17 fit players to go into 10 outfield positions. Harry Redknapp would call that down to the bare bones of the squad I guess. With the 17 year old
Theo Walcott who has never played premiership football, and Sven not seeming to want to play the boy, England are pretty much down to the last 16 outfield players. Any more injuries and we'll be in trouble. Let's hope Neville and Ferdinand are back soon. I don't hold out much hope for Owen playing again in these World Cup finals.
Come on England!
