The Sportsman Betting Paper Launch

The Sportsman officially launhces on March the 22nd, 2006.

The much hyped Sportsman betting publication is an ambitious attempt to rival the Racing Post paper in the betting editorial stakes.

A paper offering football and horseracing galore, along with many other types of sports betting information and articles, equals I am looking forward to the Sportsman UK launch date of march 22.

Charlie Methven, formerly a gossip columnist of the Telegraph and journo at the Sporting Life, is the brainchild of the operation based just up the road from the Charing Cross hospital, funnily enough in Hammersmith W6 (manbre road). That one has always thrown me. Charing Cross is miles away from Hammersmith and Fulham.

So, with an £11 million bankroll, 125 staff and the help of the Telegraph, maybe the "Sportsman" has more than a sporting chance of rivaling Trinity Mirror's Racing Post. We shall see.
