David Beckham recovered from his groin injury in time to play in the 0-0 bore draw against Real Betis, but did not make the starting line up.
To drop Beckham has been to tempt fate in Spain for previous managers.
Jose Camacho went 2 days after dropping Beckham in september 2004. Mariano Garcia was axed immediately after dropping Becks,
Real Madrid lost 2-0 away to
Espanyol.
Now
Juan Ramon Lopez Caro will very likely pay the same price for dropping England captain Beckham, after his team were booed off the pitch after the 0-0 stalemate.
That said, Juan Ramon Lopez Caro has already conceded he will be booted at the end of this season anyway. Dead man walking springs to mind. Dropping Beckham has not helped Caro atall.
Many England fans want Beckham dropped from the
England side and captaincy. The way Wright Phillips played yesterday for
Chelsea in their 1-0
Fulham defeat at Craven Cottage, I don't think that is a very good idea.
Previous Real Madrid managers have learnt that lesson the hard way.
