Reality TV Betting Scam Uncovered

A 5 strong gang of gamblers betting on reality tv shows have been uncovered as scammers. The suspicion is the Betfair bettors work for Harvest media or BT. Running or working on the public phone line systems for the reality TV voting made it possible for staff to know who was to be evicted, or who had won various reality tele programmes.

Of course, the gamblers were not thick. The dodgy 5 man betting clique placed various smaller bets on other betting markets, many of which lost, to try to give over the impression they were normal betfair punters. It was their greed that got them noticed. Heavy bets were place just before the television shows broadcasted the public votes.

The BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards for 2004 were also targeted by the phone-line insiders. Apparently the sports personality show was where the "betting scam crew" first placed their bets.

The general public can vote on their favourite reality tv show contestants via normal phone lines, mobile phones and by text message. Obviously there is a flaw in the voting system that needs to be addressed asap.
