Sven Goran Eriksson has been in charge as the England manager since early 2001. As a Swede, I believe Sven is the first foreign England national team manager.
I think
Sven should count his lucky stars to be in charge of England. I personally never wanted a non English manager any more than I woud like to see a foreign goalie replace Robinson in goal.
I think if you are elidgable to play for the England side via your grandma's birthright or something like that, then that is ok. The same should go for all the coaching staff and the manager in my opinion. Sven has no such claim. The same rules should apply for all international soccer team staff members.
If you can't play in the side by nationality, you can't manage or coach the team either.
Maybe a £30 losing betting slip on Roy Hodgson at 33/1 has tainted my opinion on how lucky Sven is to be in charge of the 3 lions. Sven being in charge sure has not been very lucky for me. If a Swede who is not remotely English by birthright wins the world cup for England under the current international football rules, I'll cheer as loud as the next England fan. I just think the rules should not allow such a situation to arise.
Come on England! Come on Sven! Merry Christmas.
