Jenas Views On New Technology For RefereesI am not decided as to whether referee's do such a bad job to warrant technology. More worrying to me are the rules. The passive offside rule is unworkable, so how can referee's be helped by technology?
Fifa has hinted it could
introduce goal-line technology at the 2006 World Cup after a trial at the recent Under-17 World Championships. The 'Smart Ball' will be given a second test in the World Club Championship in December.
Referee's are in favour of technology aswell. There are many arguements for and against. Too many to list here, see

"I think, obviously, most players feel now there has to be something because it is happening in big games,' said Jenas to Sky Sports News.
There is a lot to lose. If you think about the lower leagues, it could cost them a lot of money, if they are getting relegated or coming up into The Premiership.
It is important for the clubs, not only financially, but for the players on the pitch also.
These decisions need to be made clear. If it's a chip in the ball, or another form of goalline technology that needs to be put forward for it to work, then I'm definitely for it, said Jenas."
