QPR REPORT - Royce on his back spasms >> Simon Royce said about his back injury.
I've been suffering back spasms and missed Saturday's match with Iran as well," said the six-foot-two custodian, who was clearly disappointed not to be turning out for his new employers against his old ones.
"We had a spell out in Ibiza training on Astroturf and that isn't really the right surface for a goalkeeper. Then we had just started at our new training ground and I felt it tweak in one of the sandy goalmouths.
"I couldn't move for two days but I've had a lot of treatment and I'm a lot better now," he added.
"It's not what you'd call a major injury but it's something I have to keep on top of. Perhaps I could have taken a few tablets and played but my main aim has to be fit for the opening day of the Championship season against Hull City rather than a friendly against Charlton.
"Obviously I'm hugely disappointed as I've got a lot of friends still at Charlton," he said. "I'll be there but just won't be playing. I don't think I've ever missed a pre-season until now.
Get well soon Simon Royce. QPR will be needing you fit and well for the start of the season.

i agree we will have to play better than that in the championship if we even want to stay up. We done very well last year to even stay up and with the way we were playing so eratic we will have to try and be more consistent this year to try and get into the premiership.
